ARETHA FRANKLIN: THE ATLANTIC SINGLES 1967-1970

New Collection Includes Many Of The Queen Of Soul's Greatest Songs And
Underscores Her Legacy As One Of Music's Most Important And Influential Artists

Available On CD And LP From Atlantic/Rhino on September 28

LOS ANGELES - When Aretha Franklin joined Atlantic Records in 1967, it was the beginning of an unprecedented run that would ultimately cement her place as a music legend, a global household name, and one of the most influential singers of all time. Within the space of just three years, her name was almost never out of U.S Pop and R&B Top 20, garnering nine gold singles, three gold albums, as well as three Grammy® Awards and her first string of international hits.

Atlantic and Rhino Records release a new collection that spotlights this historic period in her career. THE ATLANTIC SINGLES COLLECTION 1967-1970 will be available in two physical formats on September 28, with double-CD ($19.98) and double-LP ($31.98) versions available. The collection will also be available for digital download and via streaming services.

THE ATLANTIC SINGLES COLLECTION 1967-1970 features 34 singles which Franklin released during her first three years with Atlantic Records. The track listing for the vinyl version has been shortened to fit the LP format.

Arranged chronologically, the songs on the new collection originally appeared on six studio albums: I Never Loved A Man The Way I Love You (1967), Aretha Arrives (1967), Lady Soul (1968), Aretha Now (1968), Soul '69 (1969), This Girl's In Love With You (1970), and Spirits In The Dark (1970). The only exception is Franklin's cover of Elton John's "Border Song," which was released as a single in 1970 and later appeared on her 1972 album Young, Gifted and Black.

THE ATLANTIC SINGLES COLLECTION 1967-1970 is stacked with many of Franklin's best-known songs, including the nine #1 R&B hits "I Never Loved A Man (The Way I Love You)," "Respect" (also a Pop #1), "Baby I Love You," "Chain Of Fools," "(Sweet Sweet Baby) Since You've Been Gone," "Think," "Share Your Love With Me," "Call Me" and "Don't Play That Song."

Several of the songs on this collection are cover versions that underscore Franklin's exceptional skill at reinterpreting music and making songs her own. Among the highlights are her versions of Sam Cooke's "You Send Me," The Band's "The Weight," The Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby," and Dionne Warwick's "I Say A Little Prayer," which became a Billboard Top 10 hit for Franklin in 1968.

LOS ANGELES - Pet Shop Boys will release the final set of albums in their definitive CATALOGUE: 1985-2012 series of reissues of all their Parlophone studio albums. This fourth batch of releases will see the PSB albums Behaviour from 1990, the 1993 album Very and the 1996 album Bilingual reissued on August 31. The albums have been remastered and repackaged, and will be accompanied by 'further listening' albums of master quality bonus tracks - including demos, extended mixes and remixes of tracks from the albums and others created in the same period as each record.

Behaviour was Pet Shop Boys' fourth studio album, recorded mostly in Munich, Germany at co-producer Harold Faltermeyer's studio. The album was then completed at London's Sarm West Studios, and was released in October 1990 - hitting number 2 on the UK Album Chart and going on to earn platinum certification in the UK.

The LP is seen by some as one of Pet Shop Boys' most contemplative and moving records, and features the singles "So Hard," 'How Can You Expect To Be Taken Seriously?' and their classic track "Being Boring."  This catalogue release of  Behaviour features 'further listening' bonus tracks such as an extended mix of "Where The Streets Have No Name (I Can't Take My Eyes Off You)" and an ambient mix of "Music For Boys" - both of which are previously unreleased on CD.

The 1993 album Very was a number one record for Pet Shop Boys in the UK, Germany, Sweden and Switzerland, and has to date sold in excess of five million copies worldwide. It contains 5 singles, including their cover of "Go West" - a number 2 hit for PSB - and lead single "Can You Forgive Her?"

Stylistically, Very could be said to serve as an antithesis to Behaviour, insofar as the production and lyrical themes are generally more upbeat and positive than those of the previous album. PSB also reinvented their image to incorporate more vivid colors and brightness, including Very's now-iconic "Lego" album cover. The album is also the first to be produced almost entirely by Pet Shop Boys themselves - with additional programming and production courtesy of Pete Gleadall and Stephen Hague. This CATALOGUE: 1985-2012 issue of Very includes a 'further listening' disc of bonus material, such as the previously-unreleased tracks "Falling" (a demo for Kylie Minogue), and a 1992 twelve-inch mix of "Go West."

Released in September 1996, Bilingual was the sixth studio album to be released by Pet Shop Boys. It was a UK top 5 record upon release and included 5 singles, all of which were UK Top 20 singles. As is often the case with PSB records, Bilingual comprises many influences, including those of the music of Latin America, due partly to the Spanish and Latin music Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe had been listening to prior to recording the album.

The album was recorded by PSB with Danny Tenaglia and Chris Porter, and has since gained platinum certification in Spain, and Gold in the UK. This CATALOGUE: 1985-2012  release of Bilingual includes a 'further listening'  CD of bonus tracks, with previously-unreleased new versions of "Discoteca" and "A Red Letter Day."

The CATALOGUE: 1985-2012 reissues of Behaviour, Very and Bilingual will go on sale August 31. The three albums will be packaged with an extensive booklet in which Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe discuss each song, illustrated with many archive photographs. The entire project is designed by Farrow. To pre-order the albums, please follow the links below:

Behaviour/Further Listening: 1990-1991
Very/Further Listening: 1992-1994
Bilingual/Further Listening: 1995-1997

The CATALOGUE: 1985-2012 reissue series began last year with the release of Nightlife, Release, and Fundamental, followed by re-issues of Yes and Elysium and later Please, Actually, and Introspective.

The reissues of Please, Actually, Introspective, Behaviour, Very, and Bilingual were originally released with bonus 'further listening' albums in 2001 and are being newly remastered with their original track-listings for this project.

LOS ANGELES - Twisted Sister made its Atlantic Records debut in 1983 with You Can't Stop Rock 'N' Roll. The album was a turning point for the quintet and helped set the stage for their rise to fame over the coming years. Rhino revisits Twisted Sister's early days with a newly remastered version of that album, which has been expanded with rare live performances recorded in London months before the studio album was released.

LIVE AT THE MARQUEE 1983 - YOU CAN'T STOP ROCK 'N' ROLL will be available on September 14 as a double-CD set for $19.98. The music will also be available digitally and via streaming services. LIVE AT THE MARQUEE 1983 will be available as a double-LP set on colored vinyl for $31.98 starting August 10  as a part of Record Store Day Craw and will be available exclusively at all independent retailers in advance of the national release date of September 14. For more information, please visit https://www.recordstorecrawl.com/exclusives.

After years playing clubs around New York, Twisted Sister signed with Atlantic Records and released You Can't Stop Rock 'N' Roll in May 1983. The stellar album includes hard-rocking classics like the title track, "I Am (I'm Me)" and "The Kids Are Back." Along with the album's original tracks, this newly remastered version also features three studio bonus tracks: "One Man Woman," "Four Barrel Heart Of Love" and "Feel The Power," which previously appeared on the B-side of the You Can't Stop Rock 'N' Roll EP.

Previously released as a Rhino Handmade title, the live performances featured on the second disc were recorded in March 1983 over two nights at London's famed Marquee Club. The songs find Twisted Sister raw, hungry and catching fire just a few months before the group achieved breakout success on radio and MTV. Mirroring the setlists from both shows, the collection's blistering performances feature singer Dee Snider, guitarists Jay Jay French and Eddie "Fingers" Ojeda, bassist Mark "The Animal" Mendoza and drummer A.J. Pero.

The performances on LIVE AT THE MARQUEE are unrelenting as the band demolishes nearly every song from its debut Under the Blade, including the show opener "What You Don't Know (Sure Can Hurt You)." Along with covers of the Shangri-Las' "Leader Of The Pack" and the Slade version of the R&B staple "Let The Good Times Roll," the album also includes the first-ever public performance of "You Can't Stop Rock 'N' Roll," which would later surface on the band's second studio album. Bits of Snider's legendary stage banter can also be heard between songs.
