ROD STEWART: THE STUDIO ALBUMS 1975-2001

New Boxed Set Features Every Studio Album The Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer

Recorded During His Remarkable 26-Year Run With Warner Bros. Records

14-Disc Collection Available On September 13

One of the most successful recording artists in history, Sir Rod Stewart cut some of his most memorable music during his epic 26-year tenure with Warner Bros. Records (now Warner Records). During that time, he released 14 studio albums, achieving both international success and critical acclaim thanks to massive hits like “Tonight’s the Night (Gonna Be Alright),” “Infatuation,” “Love Touch” and “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?”

Today, Warner Records celebrates one of the most talented singers in rock and pop music with the announcement of a 14-disc boxed set that includes all of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s studio albums recorded for the label. Presented in a clamshell box, THE STUDIO ALBUMS 1975-2001 will be available on September 13 at retail outlets and digitally. The album is also currently available for pre-order at Rhino.com.

After brilliant stints with the Jeff Beck Group and the Faces, as well as several outstanding solo albums, Stewart moved to Los Angeles in 1974 and joined Warner Bros. Records. Atlantic Crossing, his 1975 debut with the label, was produced by the legendary Tom Dowd, who produced Stewart’s next three albums. That four-album run during the 1970s was one of Stewart’s most successful. After Atlantic Crossing was certified gold, A Night On the Town went double-platinum and Foot Loose & Fancy Free went triple-platinum, as did its follow-up Blondes Have More Fun, which became Stewart’s first #1 album. That era gave rise to many of the singer’s most beloved tracks, like “Sailing,” “I Don’t Want to Talk About It,” “I Was Only Joking,” “The First Cut Is the Deepest,” “You’re in My Heart (The Final Acclaim),” and “Hot Legs.”

Stewart’s chart success continued into the 1980s with a string of Top 10 hits that included: “Passion,” “Young Turks,” “Infatuation,” “Some Guys Have All the Luck,” “Love Touch” and “My Heart Can’t Tell You No.” After opening the decade with back-to-back platinum albums — Foolish Behaviour and Tonight I’m Yours — the singer ended it on a high note with the double-platinum success of Out of Order, which was produced by Duran Duran’s Andy Taylor and Chic’s Bernard Edwards.

He notched platinum records in three consecutive decades in 1991 when Vagabond Heart hit the million-seller mark while peaking at #10 on the album chart. In 1995, a year after Stewart was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his solo career, he released Spanner In the Works, a gold-certified album that included “Leave Virginia Alone,” a stellar track written by Tom Petty. Following the mostly-covers album When We Were the New Boys, the singer returned with his final album for Warner Bros. Records, Human, which featured the hit “I Can’t Deny It.”

VH1 STORYTELLERS
LIMITED 2-LP AVAILABLE FOR THE FIRST TIME
ON OCTOBER 11 FROM PARLOPHONE

On August 23, 1999, David Bowie played an intimate set for invited guests at The Manhattan Center’s Grand Ballroom in New York for the VH1 Storytellers series. 10 years later in 2009, a CD/DVD/download of the evening was released. 20 years later, the most complete version will be released as a limited edition 2-LP set on October 11.

The VH1 Storytellers TV series debuted in 1996 and featured several of music’s biggest names performing in front of a live audience while telling stories about the inspirations and memories associated with each song. Some of the artists the show has hosted are Bruce Springsteen, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Bee Gees, Kanye West, and Steely Dan.

The Bowie set has long been regarded as one of the most memorable episodes in VH1 Storytellers history, with Bowie delving deep into his catalogue to perform tracks such as
“Can’t Help Thinking About Me” for the first time in 33 years, Aladdin Sane’s “Drive-In Saturday” which he had not performed since 1974, and “Word On A Wing,” which received its first outing in 23 years.

Bill Flanagan, executive producer of VH1 Storytellers said, “We were used to dealing with legendary musicians. Still, landing David Bowie was more than a big booking. There's no way to say this without being corny: it was an honor. Bowie has a unique place in rock & roll. He is not only one of the most influential musicians of the era, but he does nothing unless he is fully committed.”

Parlophone Records will release a limited edition 2-LP to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this exceptional show.

RUSH: CLOCKWORK ANGELS TOUR

LOS ANGELES – Rush’s final studio album, Clockwork Angels, debuted at #1 in Canada and #2 in the U.S. in 2012, tying it with Moving Pictures (1981) as the highest-ranking debut of the band’s career. Soon after, Rush launched the Clockwork Angels Tour, which featured the band performing for the first time with a string ensemble. The tour would be immortalized on the 2013 live album, CLOCKWORK ANGELS TOUR.

Rhino will release the music from that collection on vinyl for the first time on October 11 for $119.98. CLOCKWORK ANGELS TOUR is pressed on five 180-gram LPs and includes an etching on the flipside of the final album. The set comes packaged in a two-piece telescope box with a full-color booklet, and a code to download a high-definition digital version of the album.

Clockwork Angels was the 19th studio album that Rush made over 38 years, and the last since Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart stopped recording and touring in 2015. The album was followed by an extensive 73-date tour that ran from September 2012 to August 2013. In November 2012, the band recorded concerts in Phoenix, Dallas and San Antonio for a live album that was released as a 3CD/DVD set in 2013. The new vinyl version of CLOCKWORK ANGELS TOUR includes all 31 tracks from the original CDs.

For the concert’s first set, Rush focused mainly on songs from its run of stellar albums in the Eighties with: “Subdivisions” (Signals, 1982); “The Body Electric” (Grace Under Pressure, 1984); and “Force Ten” (Hold Your Fire, 1987). The band’s platinum-certified album Power Windows received a lot of attention throughout the concert, with performances of “The Big Money” and “Grand Designs” along with three more album tracks.

During the concert’s second set, the band performed live with a string ensemble. Led by Canadian conductor David Campbell, the Clockwork Angels String Ensemble accompanied the band on 10 of the 12 songs from the Clockwork Angels. The ensemble also joined the band on “Dreamline” (Roll The Bones, 1991), “YYZ” (Moving Pictures, 1981) and “Red Sector A” (Grace Under Pressure, 1984).

The vinyl set also features the bonus tracks from the original release, including a version of the classic “Limelight” that the band recorded during soundcheck.

WHITESNAKE: SLIP OF THE TONGUE 30th ANNIVERSARY

6CD/DVD Collection Includes A Newly Remastered Version Of The Top 10 Album, Expanded With Unreleased Studio Recordings, The Band’s 1990 Headlining Set At Castle Donington, Music Videos And A New Interview With David Coverdale

Four Different Versions Will Be Available From Rhino On October 4

LOS ANGELES – Whitesnake scored the band’s third consecutive platinum record with its eighth studio album, Slip of the Tongue. Originally released in November 1989, it peaked at number 10 on the U.K. and U.S. album charts thanks largely to its two Top 40 hits – “Fool For Your Loving” and “The Deeper The Love.” The fan favorite turns 30 this year and Rhino is celebrating with several new versions, including a colossal seven-disc boxed set.

SLIP OF THE TONGUE: 30th ANNIVERSARY EDITION will be available on October 4 for $74.98. The 6CD/DVD collection includes a newly remastered version of the album, plus unreleased studio recordings, audio and video of the band’s performance at the 1990 Monsters of Rock festival, and a new interview with Whitesnake founder and lead singer, David Coverdale. It comes in a 60-page hardbound book filled with rare memorabilia from the era. For a limited time, Rhino.com will offer the Super Deluxe 6CD/DVD edition, paired with a lithograph signed by David Coverdale for $84.98.

Other versions of Slip of the Tongue will also be available the same day, including double-CD Deluxe Edition, which includes the newly remastered album expanded with a selection of rare and unreleased bonus tracks ($24.98) and a double-LP Deluxe Edition, which features the newly remastered album along with a selection of unique bonus tracks ($31.98). A single-disc version ($9.98) includes the newly remastered album, along with single B-Sides plus alternate recordings. The music will be available digitally as well.

Following the 8x platinum success of their eponymous album in 1987, Whitesnake returned two years later with Slip of the Tongue. At the time, the band included Coverdale, bassist Rudy Sarzo, drummer Tommy Aldridge, and guitarists Adrian Vandenberg and Steve Vai. Vandenberg and Coverdale co-wrote all but one song on the album, but Vandenberg couldn’t record them in the studio at the time due to a hand injury. To fill the void, Vai joined the band for the album and tour.

SLIP OF THE TONGUE: 30th ANNIVERSARY EDITION features unreleased versions of every album track, as well as monitor mixes for the album recorded in 1989. In addition, the collection includes nearly two dozen previously unreleased tracks taken from the session tapes that highlight working versions of album tracks and more. The set also includes the CD debut of Slip of the Tongue: The Wagging Tongue Edition. Released exclusively on vinyl in 1989, it features Coverdale being interviewed about each track followed by the song.

SLIP OF THE TONGUE: 30th ANNIVERSARY EDITION finishes big with Whitesnake’s 1990 headlining performance at the Monsters of Rock Festival at Castle Donington on CD and DVD. The DVD also includes three music videos, all of which have been carefully restored and remixed in 5.1 Surround Sound for the first time ever. A new promo video for the track “Sweet Lady Luck”, made exclusively for this set, a behind the scenes look at the making of the album, plus a newly recorded interview with Coverdale and Vandenberg rounds out the DVD.

CHICAGO CHRISTMAS

The Legendary “Rock Band With Horns” Gets Into The Spirit Of The Holiday Season With An Album That Mixes Original Christmas Songs And Yuletide Favorites

Available On October 11 From Rhino

LOS ANGELES – Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, Chicago, will celebrate the holidays this year with a new Christmas album that spotlights the legendary group’s trademark sound on eight original songs, two yuletide favorites and one timeless classic that embraces the spirit of hope.

On October 11, CHICAGO CHRISTMAS will be available on CD for $15.98 and through digital and streaming services. In addition, a black vinyl version of the album will be released to general retail, with limited-edition red and white vinyl versions exclusively available at Rhino.com. All vinyl versions will be available on November 22 for $21.98.

Produced by founding member Lee Loughnane, CHICAGO CHRISTMAS is the 37th album of the band’s career and its fourth holiday collection. Whereas its previous releases focused more on traditional Christmas songs, the new record spotlights holiday music the band wrote especially for the album, including “All Over The World,” “(Because) It’s Christmastime,” and “I’m Your Santa Claus.” The album also features R&B and ballad versions of “Merry Christmas, I Love You,” a song that Loughnane wrote with John Durrill of The Ventures, the best-selling instrumental band of all time.

Touring for their 52nd consecutive year, the band has been invigorated by the musicianship and collaborative energy of this current lineup. Manager Peter Schivarelli suggested the idea of recording a few new Christmas songs and the band jumped at the chance to record together. Their combined creative process led to a full album of new Chicago music, unified with a holiday theme.

Instead of recording the album in a studio, the group used an innovative mobile recording setup to make the album while on tour. They rehearsed the new songs during soundchecks and on days off, then recorded the tracks after the shows in various hotel rooms and the tour bus along the way. Chicago Christmas features original compositions by many of the band members, along with unmistakable horn arrangements by founding member James Pankow. The album was recorded and mixed by Tim Jessup.

Along with the new songs, the album also features the band’s interpretations of two holiday standards: “Here We Come A Caroling” and “Sleigh Ride.” It’s the second time Chicago has recorded “Sleigh Ride.” A different version appears on Chicago XXXIII: O Christmas Thee (2011). The album’s other non-original track is a soulful Chicago interpretation of the Hal David and Burt Bacharach classic, “What The World Needs Now Is Love,” which founding member Robert Lamm thought had a timely message for the holidays.

Chicago features Robert Lamm (keyboards, guitar, vocals), Lee Loughnane (trumpet, flugelhorn, vocals), James Pankow (trombone, percussion), Keith Howland (guitar, vocals), Lou Pardini (keyboards, vocals), Ray Herrmann (saxophones, flute), Walfredo Reyes Jr. (drums), Neil Donell (vocals, acoustic guitar), Brett Simons (bass, vocals), and Ramon Yslas (percussion).

Chicago’s lifetime achievements include being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, two Grammy Awards®, and two American Music Awards. They are Founding Artists of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Chicago's debut album, Chicago Transit Authority was inducted into the Grammy® Hall of Fame, and Robert Lamm and James Pankow are inductees of the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Record sales top the 100,000,000 mark, and include 21 Top 10 singles, five consecutive Number One albums, 11 Number One singles and five Gold singles. An incredible 25 of their 36 albums have been certified platinum, and the band has a total of 47 gold and platinum awards.
