(Minneapolis, MN — October 18, 2019) In honor of the 40th anniversary of Prince’s second album, Prince—which was released on October 19, 1979—The Prince Estate and Warner Records are pleased to announce the surprise release of a previously unheard, solo acoustic demo recording of the Grammy-winning Prince track “I Feel for You,” available on streaming services and as a limited-run 7” vinyl single.

The new two-track single includes the acoustic demo of “I Feel for You” on the A-side and the original studio recording on the B-side, and is available as a Made to Order release exclusively at Prince.com for the next seven days.
The special, stripped-down demo recording captures a 20-year-old Prince in a raw, intimate moment, and begins with the sound of the artist pressing the record button on a cassette tape recorder and picking up an acoustic guitar. The recording was created in the winter of 1978-1979, around the time Prince was preparing to make his solo debut at the Capri Theater in North Minneapolis, and it was recently rediscovered on one of the countless cassette tapes stored in his legendary vault.
“I was blown away,” says Prince vault archivist Michael Howe. “Here is 20-year-old Prince thinking aloud, feeling his way through the song. You hear his incredible talent shining through on acoustic guitar, which is not something he typically showcased, and his guide vocal is astonishingly great.”

The fully produced, studio recording of “I Feel For You” was included on Prince’s second album, Prince. It would become a hit a few years later, when it was covered by Chaka Khan and released as the title track of her solo album, I Feel for You, in 1984. Her version, which featured a cameo by the rapper Melle Mel, became a Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned two Grammys—including a Grammy Award for Best R&B Song that honored Prince’s contributions as songwriter.

CROSSROADS REVISITED MAKES VINYL DEBUT

Nearly Four Hours Of Live Performances From Eric Clapton’s
Acclaimed Music Festival Are Coming To Vinyl For The First Time

6-LP Collection Features 40 Tracks With Performances By Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Gary Clark Jr., Sheryl Crow, Vince Gill, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, John Mayer, Willie Nelson, Carlos Santana, James Taylor, Joe Walsh, Steve Winwood, Ronnie Wood, ZZ TOP, And More

Available December 6 From Rhino

LOS ANGELES – Founded in 2004 by legendary guitarist Eric Clapton, the Crossroads Guitar Festival has given fans an opportunity to witness truly historic performances by some of the world’s greatest guitarists. And while fans have been able to relive those magical moments thanks to a series of successful DVD, Blu-ray, CD compilations, this is the first time the compilation will be available on vinyl.

CROSSROADS REVISITED: SELECTIONS FROM THE CROSSROADS GUITAR FESTIVAL will be available December 6 as a 6-LP set. Boasting 40 live tracks, the collection includes a selection of landmark performances from all four Crossroads Guitar Festivals, which were held in 2004, 2007, 2010 and 2013. A veritable “Who’s Who” of guitar music can be heard on this set, including Clapton, Jeff Beck, Gary Clark Jr., Robert Cray, Billy F Gibbons, Vince Gill, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, John Mayer, Carlos Santana, Joe Walsh, Ronnie Wood, and Jimmie Vaughan, just to name a few.

Amazing performances by Clapton are featured throughout the set, including his cover of George Harrison’s “Isn’t It A Pity” and a smoking electric version of “Layla” that was included as a hidden track on the Crossroads Guitar Festival 2004 DVD. But it’s Slowhand’s on-stage collaborations that really shine here, like playing “After Midnight” with J.J. Cale, who wrote the hit song, and breaking out Blind Faith’s “Presence Of The Lord” with Steve Winwood, who was in the band with Clapton.

Naturally, the all-star jams deliver some of the collection’s most unforgettable moments. Among the highlights are: “Paying The Cost To Be The Boss” with B.B. King, Robert Cray, Jimmie Vaughan and Hubert Sumlin; “Five Long Years” with Buddy Guy, Ronnie Wood and Jonny Lang; and “Steamroller” with James Taylor and Joe Walsh.

Held every three years since 2004, the Crossroads Guitar Festival raises funds for the Crossroads Centre in Antigua (www.crossroadsantigua.org), a treatment and education facility that Clapton founded in 1998 to help people suffering from chemical dependency.

“RUNNIN’ WITH THE DEVIL” LIKE YOU NEVER HEARD IT BEFORE

Singer-Songwriter Jennifer Hope Makes Her Rhino Debut With An Ethereal Version Of The Van Halen Classic

Available Now From Rhino

LOS ANGELES – Jennifer Hope makes her Rhino Records debut as the singer-songwriter puts her own dark twist on Van Halen’s “Runnin’ With The Devil.”

Guitarist Eddie Van Halen – who played on the original – is an early fan. “When I heard Jennifer’s ‘trailer remix’ version, I was blown away. It is a very powerful, unique approach, and I couldn’t have done better myself!”

“I was inspired to create and record my version of 'RWTD' because I knew it would challenge me in new ways,” says Jennifer Hope. “I re-imagined the song with a mood and vibe that is significantly unlike the original. Continuing to evolve artistically is an important factor in my creative process, along with expressing the message within the song.”

Hope’s rendition of “Runnin’ With The Devil” along with a remixed version of the song as a two-track digital single is available on all major digital platforms for $1.99.

The song was produced by Hope and Matt Emonson with additional production by Warren Huart (Aerosmith, The Fray, James Blunt). Huart also produced two of Hope’s recent releases, Velvet Fire (LP) and X-Tremities (EP).

Based in Los Angeles, Hope started out recording gothic and dark-wave music as an independent artist. Over time, her sound has grown more diverse as she’s embraced more alt-rock influences. The sonic landscapes of her songs may have shifted, but Hope’s ethereal, dream-pop vocals remain at the core of her distinctive sound.

Fans are invited to listen to the songs here.
