LOS ANGELES - Next year will be the 50th anniversary of Otis Redding topping the charts with his signature song, "(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay." Unfortunately the single's success was bittersweet, as Redding tragically passed away in a plane crash just weeks before its release. Leading up to the "Dock Of The Bay" milestone, Rhino will introduce a new vinyl collection that brings together all seven of the iconic soul singer's studio albums. Big O's biggest hits are all here, from "Pain In My Heart" and "These Arms Of Mine" to "Respect" and "Try A Little Tenderness."

OTIS REDDING: THE DEFINITIVE STUDIO ALBUM COLLECTION will be available as a 7-LP set from Rhino on December 15 for $109.98.

The albums included in the collection are: Pain In My Heart (1964), The Great Otis Redding Sings Soul Ballads (1965), Otis Blue/Otis Redding Sings Soul (1965), The Soul Album (1966), Complete and Unbelievable...The Otis Redding Dictionary of Soul (1966), King & Queen - Otis Redding & Carla Thomas (1967), and The Dock of the Bay (1968).

All of the LPs replicate the original packaging, from the sleeve artwork down to small details like the original record labels (Volt and Stax) and catalog numbers, all housed together in a side-loading slipcase. Several of these albums are long out-of-print and back on vinyl in mono for the first time in years.

The music follows Redding's career from his 1964 debut Pain In My Heart up to The Dock of the Bay, which was released in February 1968, just a few months after the singer's untimely death in December 1967. Despite his short career, Redding recorded songs that helped define soul in the Sixties and beyond.

The albums are packed with Top Ten R&B hits: "Chained And Bound," "Mr. Pitiful," "I've Been Loving You Too Long" and his cover of the Rolling Stones' "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction." Another obvious highlight is "Respect," a song Redding wrote and recorded in 1965, which later become a massive hit for Aretha Franklin. Another essential is "Tramp" from his unforgettable duets album with Carla Thomas, King & Queen. As it happens, that's also the last album the singer would release during his lifetime.

Redding's music career began fatefully in 1962 when an unexpected opportunity to record two songs led to a contract with Stax Records in Memphis. Throughout his career, the singer was backed by the legendary Stax house band: keyboardist Booker T. Jones, guitarist Steve Cropper, bassist Donald "Duck" Dunn, and drummer Al Jackson Jr.

LOS ANGELES - REO Speedwagon will crank up the holiday spirit this year with the definitive version of its yuletide classic, Not So Silent Night: Christmas with REO Speedwagon. It features remastered sound, four bonus tracks and a newly recorded version of the group's original Christmas song, "I Believe In Santa Claus."

NOT SO SILENT NIGHT: CHRISTMAS WITH REO SPEEDWAGON will be available on digital formats today (October 20), CD (November 3), and on LP (December 1).

The collection spotlights the group's distinctive versions of Christmas favorites like "Silent Night," "Little Drummer Boy," "Deck The Halls" and "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)." It also features several songs that did not appear on the original 2009 release, including "We Three Kings," which is now available on CD and digital versions.

The CD and digital versions also include three songs released as bonus tracks on the 2010 version of the album: "Sleigh Ride," "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" and "I Believe In Santa Claus," which was written by the band's frontman Kevin Cronin and bassist Bruce Hall. The group recently returned to the studio to record a new version of "I Believe In Santa Claus." This new 2017 version is available as part of the digital version of album, and is also available as a free download with the purchase of CD or LPs formats.

Cronin says: "Our goal with this new version of 'the Santa song' was to create a true REO Speedwagon track, which also happens to be a Christmas carol, and a holiday love letter to our families, and yours."

Formed in 1967, signed in 1971, and fronted by Cronin since 1972, REO Speedwagon's unrelenting drive, as well as non-stop touring and recording jump-started the burgeoning rock movement in the Midwest. Platinum albums and radio staples soon followed, setting the stage for the release of the band's explosive Hi Infidelity in 1980, which contained the massive hit singles "Keep On Loving You," and "Take It On the Run." That landmark album spent 15 weeks in the No. 1 slot and has since earned the RIAA's coveted 10X Diamond Award for surpassing sales of 10 million units in the United States. Today, REO Speedwagon has sold 40 million albums around the globe, and Cronin and bandmates Hall, Neal Doughty (keyboards), Dave Amato (guitar), and Bryan Hitt (drums) are still electrifying audiences worldwide in concert.

Whitesnake’s New Live Collection Highlights Singer David Coverdale’s Time In
Deep Purple With Performances Of Deep Purple And Whitesnake Classics

LOS ANGELES – Whitesnake revisited the music that singer David Coverdale recorded with Deep Purple in the Seventies when it released The Purple Album two years ago. The album, and the tour that followed, offered fans modern interpretations of Purple classics like “Burn” and “Mistreated.” This fall, highlights from the tour will be featured in a new live collection, including double-disc versions that feature audio, video and a selection of bonus material.

THE PURPLE TOUR (LIVE) will be available on January 19 as CD/DVD ($24.98) or CD/Blu-ray ($26.98) sets. Additional formats include a double-LP ($29.98), single CD ($15.98), and digital version.

On THE PURPLE TOUR (LIVE), Whitesnake puts its distinctive spin on several songs from Coverdale’s studio albums with Deep Purple — Burn (1974), Stormbringer (1974), and Come Taste The Band (1975). Highlights include: “You Fool No One,” “The Gypsy” and “Soldier Of Fortune.” The double-disc collection also includes video footage of the concert and 5.1 Surround Sound audio, plus a new music video for “Burn,” band interviews, and a number of bonus performances not available on the CD or vinyl versions.

The Whitesnake line-up that appears on THE PURPLE TOUR (LIVE) includes: singer David Coverdale, guitarists Reb Beach and Joel Hoekstra, bassist Michael Devin, drummer Tommy Aldridge and keyboardist Michele Luppi.

Coverdale says there was never any intention to compete against the original recordings. “We just wanted to play the damn songs. Each member of the band brought their incredible individual talents and a real band identity to this music. We’ve all done the best we can with this project with respect to the music, and the legacy of Deep Purple Mk3 and Mk4.”

In addition to songs originally recorded by Deep Purple, THE PURPLE TOUR (LIVE) also features performances of killer Whitesnake tracks like “Fool For Your Loving” from Ready an’ Willing (1980), “Love Ain’t No Stranger” from Slide It In (1984), plus “Bad Boys,” “Is This Love” and the #1 smash “Here I Go Again” from Whitesnake (1987).
