CATALOGUE: 1985-2012, THE LANDMARK SERIES OF REISSUES
OF THEIR PARLOPHONE STUDIO ALBUMS

Reissues Out October 20 From Rhino

LOS ANGELES - Pet Shop Boys will release the second set of albums in their definitive CATALOGUE: 1985-2012 series of reissues of all their Parlophone studio albums. This second set sees the PSB albums Yes from 2009 and Elysium from 2012 reissued on October 20. Both titles have been remastered and are accompanied by "further listening" albums of master quality bonus tracks and demos created in the same period as each album, as well as Pet Shop Boys' own remixes of their tracks, including some previously unreleased material.

Both albums will be packaged with an extensive booklet in which Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe discuss each song, illustrated with many archive photographs. The entire project is designed by Farrow.

Yes was produced by Brian Higgins and his production team Xenomania. The record debuted at number four on the UK Albums Chart upon release and was nominated for Best Electronic / Dance Album at the 2010 Grammy's ®. This expanded version of the album features guests including The Human League's Phil Oakey, who shares vocals with Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe on "This Used To Be The Future."

Johnny Marr also appears on Yes. His guitar work is featured on several tracks including the single, "Did You See Me Coming?'" The album's lead single and UK Top 20 hit, "Love Etc." became PSB's ninth number one hit on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs chart in the USA, breaking the record for most chart-topping singles by a duo or group on the Billboard Dance Chart.

This reissue of Yes includes - alongside the remastered original album - Pet Shop Boys' previously unreleased monitor mix of "The Loving Kind," a song which became a Top 10 hit for Girls Aloud, as well as previously unreleased demos of songs from the 2010 Young Vic theatre production, My Dad's A Birdman. PSB mixes of "The Former Enfant Terrible," "Did You See Me Coming?" and more are also included.

Elysium, originally released in 2012, was seen by some as a shift in sound and direction for Pet Shop Boys. Writing for the album began whilst PSB were on tour with Take That, with some tracks dating as far back as 2008.

The album was co-produced by PSB with Andrew Dawson, who engineered much of Kanye West's album 808s & Heartbreak, a record which Neil Tennant had become 'mildly obsessed' with at the time. The darker lyrical themes of Elysium are reflected in the record's sound. Neil Tennant noted, "It is deep in terms of the sound-got a lot of sub-bass-it's sort of deep in terms of subject matter, the way it's expressed. But I think it's the Pet Shop Boys' most beautiful album."

The "further listening" album of additional material alongside this Elysium reissue features previously unreleased demos titled "Vocal," "She Pops" and 'In Slow Motion," as well as PSB mixes and remixes of "Leaving" and "Memory Of The Future."

The CATALOGUE: 1985-2012 reissues of Yes and Elysium will go on sale on October 20. Upon pre-order of the albums, the tracks "The Loving Kind (Monitor Mix)" from Yes and "Vocal (Demo)" from Elysium will be instantly available.

The CATALOGUE: 1985-2012 reissue series began earlier this year on July 28 with the release of Nightlife, Release, and Fundamental. The reissues will continue until all PSB Parlophone albums have been released with "further listening" albums:

Yes/Further listening: 2008-2010

Please/Further listening: 1984-1986
Actually/Further listening: 1987-1988

Behaviour/Further listening: 1990-1991
Very/Further listening: 1992-1994

The reissues of Please, Actually, Introspective, Behaviour, Very, and Bilingual were originally released with bonus "further listening" albums in 2001 and are being newly remastered with their original track-listings for these projects.

New Whitesnake Deal With Rhino Entertainment Puts Significant Catalog
With Warner Music Group Worldwide For The First Time

LOS ANGELES - Whitesnake had already released a string of Top 10 albums in England before the band conquered the world in 1987 with their eponymous record, also known in some countries as 1987, which was certified multi-platinum and featured the smash single "Here I Go Again." The classic album turns 30 this year and Rhino is celebrating with four new versions, including an expansive boxed set.

WHITESNAKE: SUPER DELUXE EDITION will be available on October 27 for $49.98. The 4-CD/DVD collection includes the original album with newly remastered sound, unreleased live and studio recordings, classic music videos, concert footage, a 30 minute documentary, featuring a new interview with David Coverdale, Whitesnake's founder and lead singer. The music comes with a 60-page hardbound book that's filled with rare and unseen photos from the era, an extended essay based on new interviews with Coverdale, plus a booklet of the album's lyrics, handwritten by Coverdale. The audio will also be available via digital download and streaming services.

Three other versions of WHITESNAKE will also be available the same day. A Deluxe Edition will be available in both 2-CD ($19.98) and 2-LP ($29.98) versions, each including the newly remastered album expanded with a selection of unreleased bonus recordings. A single-disc version of the newly remastered album will also be available.

This also marks the first release under a newly signed catalog deal with Whitesnake and Rhino Entertainment, the catalog division of Warner Music Group. This new deal includes both the North American and Japanese rights, marking the first time a substantial amount of the Whitesnake catalog will reside under Warner Music Group worldwide.

"It gives me great joy to finally have so much of my Whitesnake catalog all under the same roof with the Warner family and I'm thrilled to be now working with this tremendous team on a worldwide basis," says Coverdale. "I have great memories of being with Warner back in my days with Deep Purple then when I was with Geffen, when they were distributed by Warner, so it feels like coming home to now have Whitesnake there. This elaborate reissue is the perfect project to kick off the new relationship."

"Whitesnake is one of the all-time great rock 'n' roll bands, with David being an absolute icon as a vocalist and front man," says Rhino President Mark Pinkus. "We are absolutely thrilled to now have so much of the Whitesnake catalog with Warner on a global basis and are excited for the fans to see what great releases we have planned for the coming years."

Soon after its release in April 1987, WHITESNAKE became a huge success around the world, selling multi million copies. It peaked at #2 on the Billboard album chart and spawned four popular singles: "Still Of The Night," "Give Me All Your Love," "Is This Love" (which reached #2) and the #1 hit "Here I Go Again."

WHITESNAKE: SUPER DELUXE EDITION comes with an entire disc of unreleased live performances featuring Adrian Vandenberg, Vivian Campbell & Tommy Aldridge, recorded during the band's 1987-88 tour. The music includes live versions of several tracks from "1987", plus Whitesnake classics "Slide It In," "Love Ain't No Stranger," and "Slow An' Easy."

An additional disc spotlights the creative process behind WHITESNAKE with a selection of 11 unreleased demo and rehearsal recordings, including early versions of nearly every song on the album called 87 Evolutions. The final disc introduces newly remixed versions the album's four singles, and includes rare radio mixes, as well as songs from 87 Versions, an EP released exclusively in Japan.

The DVD from WHITESNAKE: SUPER DELUXE EDITION includes music videos for the four singles, all of which have been carefully restored and remixed in 5.1 Surround Sound for the first time ever. In addition, the DVD also features a new 30 minute documentary about the making of WHITESNAKE, a new promo video made especially for this set of the 1988 version of "Here I Go Again" and unreleased live footage from the 1987-88 tour.

LOS ANGELES – Before his untimely death in 2012, renowned American rock guitarist Ronnie Montrose began recording an ambitious passion project with bassist Ricky Phillips (Styx, Bad English) and drummer Eric Singer (Kiss, Alice Cooper). The idea was to record 10 songs with 10 different singers and call the album 10X10. Sadly, Montrose was unable to see the album through during his lifetime. Instead, Phillips made it his mission to finish the songs by enlisting a small army of Ronnie’s musician friends to record the vocals and the guitar solos for each song, completing the album in recent years.

Phillips says the songs represent some of Montrose’s best work. “His songs still have the fire and angst of a young rebel, but with some added wisdom and foresight voiced in his own unique language of ‘guitar-speak.’ On 10X10, we hear Ronnie at the top of his game, from the opening crunch guitar of ‘Heavy Traffic,’ all the way to the closing song, ‘I’m Not Lying,’ which was Ronnie’s tip of the hat to his friend Robin Trower.”

On September 29, Rhino will release 10X10 on 180-gram vinyl ($21.98), CD ($14.98) and digitally. The album features inspired pairings, like Deep Purple singer Glenn Hughes with Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen (“Still Singin’ With The Band”) and singer Sammy Hagar with Toto guitarist Steve Lukather (“Color Blind”). Legendary blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa also showcases his guitar talents on the track “The Kingdom’s Come Undone” with Ricky Phillips on vocals.  A few artists both sing and play, like Edgar Winter (“Love Is An Art”) and Tommy Shaw (“Strong Enough”).

Several artists who appear on 10X10 had recorded with Ronnie during his career, like Edgar Winter, who included the guitarist on his 1972 album, They Only Come Out At Night. Sammy Hagar got his start singing with Montrose. Between 1973-75, he recorded two influential albums – Montrose and Paper Money – with the band and toured the world.

More than 40 years later, Hagar was among the first who agreed to help finish Ronnie’s final album. “It’s valuable to have 10X10 be seen as Ronnie’s last work, rather than going and digging up some stuff from his past. This was something he truly had a vision for,” says Hagar. The track listing for 10x10, featuring an all-star lineup, can be found below:

RONNIE MONTROSE: 10X10

  1. “Heavy Traffic” Feat. Eric Martin & Dave Meniketti

  9. “Head On Straight” Feat. Davey Pattison & Marc Bonilla
  10. “I’m Not Lying” Feat. Gregg Rolie, Tom Gimbel & Lawrence Gowan

A few weeks after 10X10 is released, Rhino will introduce Deluxe Editions for MONTROSE (1973) and PAPER MONEY (1974). Each double-disc set includes a newly remastered version of the original album, plus a bonus disc of unreleased demos, studio recordings, and live performances. Each collection will be available on October 13 for $19.98. On the same day, vinyl ($31.98) and digital versions will be released. These double LPs include the remastered version of the original album along with a selection of bonus recordings.

MONTROSE and PAPER MONEY feature some of the band’s most enduring music, like “Rock Candy,” “Bad Motor Scooter” and “Space Station #5.” Those two albums would help shape and influence many of the hard rock bands that followed, including Van Halen and Iron Maiden.

All 17 tracks on the MONTROSE bonus disc are previously unreleased, including demos for “Rock Candy” and “Good Rockin’ Tonight,” as well as the unreleased song “Shoot Us Down.” The remaining bonus tracks feature live performances that were recorded in April 1973 at the Record Plant in California and broadcast on radio station KSAN. Along with hits like “Bad Motor Scooter” and “Rock The Nation,” the set list also included a cover of Chuck Berry’s classic “Roll Over Beethoven.”

All 10 tracks on the PAPER MONEY bonus disc are previously unreleased live tracks recorded in December 1974. Once again, the recording is of the band performing at the Record Plant for another broadcast on KSAN. Along with concert staples, the show highlighted two tracks from PAPER MONEY: “I Got The Fire” and “Spaceage Sacrifice.”

GRATEFUL DEAD REVISIT CLASSIC RFK STADIUM SHOWS
IN NEW BOXED SET

Six-Disc Boxed Set Highlights The Band’s Two-Night Stand
At RFK Stadium In July 1989 With Two Previously Unreleased Concerts

Pre-Order Now Exclusively At Dead.net, Available November 10

LOS ANGELES – The Grateful Dead battled the elements in July 1989, enduring drenching rains and stifling humidity during back-to-back shows at Robert F. Kennedy Stadium in the nation’s capital. In spite of the bleak weather, the band thrilled the massive crowds both nights with triumphant performances that rank among the very best of a busy year that included 74 shows and the release of the group’s final studio album, Built To Last.

ROBERT F. KENNEDY STADIUM, WASHINGTON, D.C., JULY 12 & 13, 1989 includes two previously unreleased concerts taken from the band’s master 24-track analog recordings, which have been mixed by Jeffrey Norman at TRI Studios and mastered in HDCD by David Glasser.

The six-disc set is available now for pre-order exclusively from Dead.net for $64.98 and will be shipped to arrive on November 10. The collection’s colorful slip case features original artwork by Justin Helton and a perfect-bound book with in-depth liner notes written by Dean Budnick, editor-in-chief of Relix magazine. The set will also be available as a digital download in Apple Lossless ($49.98) and FLAC 192/24 ($39.98) exclusively at Dead.net.

Dead Heads can get a special sneak preview of the collection tonight when the July 12 show is screened in over 450 select movie theaters nationwide at the seventh annual “Grateful Dead Meet-Up At The Movies.” Tickets can be purchased online by visiting www.fathomevents.com or at participating theater box offices.

When Jerry Garcia, Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Phil Lesh, Brent Mydland, and Bob Weir rolled into D.C. in July 1989 for the Dead’s two-night stand at RFK, the band hit the stage running with a stellar rendition of “Touch Of Grey,” the group’s biggest hit from its only Top 10 album In The Dark, which was released in 1987. The following night, the band returned to its double-platinum commercial breakthrough when it opened the show with a fiery version of “Hell In A Bucket.”

“RFK Stadium '89 fell right in the middle of one of the best tours of the last 15 years of Grateful Dead performances, with these shows being the sixth and seventh of an 11-show tour. This tour is widely considered the start of a nine month period of sustained excellence, which ran from Summer '89 through Spring '90. The RFK shows are as good as any of the more famous shows from this period, including July 4 in Buffalo, July 7 in Philadelphia, and the Alpine run,” says David Lemieux, Grateful Dead archivist and the set’s producer. “When Bob Weir has asked me to provide copies of Grateful Dead songs to give to his bandmates to learn and rehearse, he almost always requests Summer '89, and I've often drawn upon the RFK shows for this purpose. It's really that good!”

Both shows feature standout moments, but the July 12 show is notable for a few reasons. Perhaps the biggest is that the first set featured at least one song sung by each of the band’s four lead singers – Garcia, Weir, Lesh and Mydland – something that rarely happened. Another surprise came when the band opened the second set with “Sugaree,” a song that almost always appeared during the first set.

Pianist Bruce Hornsby — who briefly joined the band between 1990 and 1992 — is featured on both shows. He played accordion during “Sugaree” and “Man Smart (Woman Smarter),” with a touch of keyboard-tinkling, on July 12, and then played more accordion the following night for “Tennessee Jed” and “Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again.”

For fans of Mydland’s tenure with the Dead – which began in 1979 and ended in 1990 with the keyboardist’s tragic death – these stellar shows capture that incarnation in peak form. Among the long list of highlights are performances of live staples such as “Eyes Of The World,” “Warf Rat” and “I Need A Miracle,” along with rarities like “To Lay Me Down,” which was played only a few times in 1989. The July 13 show also features the band road-testing “I Will Take You Home,” a track Mydland wrote with Dead lyricist John Perry Barlow that would appear later that fall on Built To Last.

The Band’s 1992 Debut Album Available On As A 2-LP Set On 180-Gram Vinyl
For The First Time On October 13 From Rhino

LOS ANGELES – During the summer of 1992, Barenaked Ladies released their debut, Gordon. The album was widely praised for refreshing, upbeat and fun songs like the hit single, “If I Had $1000000.” This year, the alt-rock classic turns 25 and Rhino is celebrating the release by introducing the album on vinyl for the first time.

GORDON is currently available for pre-order and will be available on October 13 as a 2-LP on 180-gram vinyl for $31.98.

In 1991, thanks to the massive success of the band’s independently released cassette The Yellow Tape, Barenaked Ladies won the “Discovery To Disc” contest hosted by a Toronto radio station. The Canadian quintet used the prize money to record Gordon with producer with Michael Phillip Wojewoda. Following its release on July 28, 1992, the album topped the Canadian charts for eight weeks, while earning gold status in the U.S.

The original album mixed an array of musical styles (pop, rock, hip-hop and more) and featured several fan favorites, including “Be My Yoko Ono,” “Brian Wilson,” “Blame It On Me” and “If I Had $1000000,” which remains one of the group’s best-known songs.
