BLACK SABBATH EXPANDS SABOTAGE

Super Deluxe Edition Of The Band’s Sixth Album Features Newly Remastered Original Plus A Complete Live Show Recorded During 1975 Tour

Both 4-CD And 4-LP + 7-Inch Versions Will Be Available From Rhino On June 11

LOS ANGELES – Black Sabbath was embroiled in a protracted legal battle with its former manager in 1975 when the band started recording its sixth studio album, Sabotage. The group felt sabotaged at every turn – hence the album’s title – but that feeling helped fuel the intensity of the new music they were making. In spite of the distractions, the band created one of the most dynamic – and underappreciated – albums of its legendary career.

Rhino pays tribute to the patron saints of heavy metal with a collection that includes a newly remastered version of the original album along with a complete live show recorded during the band’s 1975 tour. SABOTAGE: SUPER DELUXE EDITION will be available on June 11 as both a 4-CD set ($49.98) and a 4-LP set on 180-gram vinyl ($109.98), with the latter including a bonus 7-inch with the single edit for “Am I Going Insane (Radio)” and “Hole In The Sky” on the flipside with artwork replicating the very rare Japanese release of the single. Both the 4-CD and 4-LP versions are available for pre-order now at the Rhino.com store.

The newly remastered version of the original album will be available via digital download and streaming services on the same day. Click HERE to listen to the newly remastered version of “Am I Going Insane (Radio),” available today digitally.

Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward recorded Sabotage in London and Brussels and co-produced the album with Mike Butcher. The eight songs were released first in the U.S. in July 1975, and then in the U.K. that September. Certified gold in America and silver in the UK, Sabotage earned positive reviews for hard-hitting tracks like “Hole In The Sky” and “Symptom Of The Universe,” as well as more experimental music like “Supertzar,” which featured harp, Mellotron, and the English Chamber Choir.

SABOTAGE: SUPER DELUXE EDITION introduces 16 live tracks (13 of which are previously unreleased) that were recorded in 1975 during the quartet’s U.S. tour for the album. The performances include songs that span the group’s career, from the title track to its 1970 debut Black Sabbath to “Spiral Architect” and “Sabbra Cadabra” from its previous album, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (1973). Sabotage is represented as well with live takes of “Hole In The Sky” and “Megalomania.”

The music is accompanied by in-depth liner notes that tell the story of the album through quotes from band members and the music media along with rare photos and press clippings from the era. Also included is a 1975 Madison Square Garden replica concert book and Sabotage 1975 tour color poster.

“THE GOOD OL’ GRATEFUL DEADCAST”

SEASON THREE LAUNCHES TODAY

Hosted by Rich Mahan and Jesse Jarnow, The First Five Episodes Will Celebrate The 50th Anniversary Of The Classic Skull & Roses Live Album

LISTEN TO FIRST EPISODE OF SEASON THREE NOW

Later Episodes Will Explore A Wide Range Of Topics In The Dead Universe And Feature Dozens Of New And Returning Special Guests

LOS ANGELES – “The Good Ol’ Grateful Deadcast,” the official podcast of the Grateful Dead, returns for a third season today. Singer-songwriter and producer Rich Mahan and author and WFMU DJ Jesse Jarnow will once again host and produce the Deadcast’s bi-weekly episodes as they continue to explore the music and mythology behind one of the world’s most enduring and influential bands. Launched in 2020, Deadcast has already generated more than one million streams and downloads to date.

Like an episodic documentary, the first two Deadcast seasons wove together voices from the Grateful Dead’s extended family to tell the story behind the making of the band’s iconic studio albums Workingman’s Dead and American Beauty. Beyond the music, Deadcast also used dogged research, revealing interviews, and rare audio from the band’s archive and beyond to uncover forgotten and surprising parts of the Dead’s trailblazing history.

That winning combination returns today with new Deadcast episodes dropping every two weeks on Thursdays. Season three picks up the band's story where last season's dive into American Beauty left off, devoting its first five episodes to the beloved live album Grateful Dead (aka “Skull & Roses”), which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. In the extended, 90+ minute first episode, which launched today, more than 15 guests will share stories about that era, including previously unheard audio of Jerry Garcia. Click HERE to listen to the new episode.

The first five Deadcast episodes will give fans a new perspective on the live album right before Rhino releases a newly remastered edition of Skull & Roses on June 25. In addition to newly remastered audio, the set also boasts more than an hour of previously unreleased live tracks that were recorded on July 2, 1971 at the Fillmore West, which was the band’s final performance at the historic San Francisco venue.

Known for its expansive roster of special guests, Deadcast will not disappoint in the upcoming season. Returning guests include singer-songwriter David Crosby; co-producer Bob Matthews; tour manager Sam Cutler; and David Nelson of the New Riders of the Purple Sage; plus regular Deadcast correspondents: Grateful Dead archivist and legacy manager David Lemieux; and Gary Lambert, who wrote liner notes for the new Skull & Roses collection and attended virtually every show included on the recording.

Throughout the new season, their voices will be joined by new guests that include tie-dye pioneer Courtenay Pollack; longtime Grateful Dead lighting designer Candace Brightman; photographer and Dead family member Rosie McGee; Fillmore East crew member and future Hollywood director Allan Arkush (Rock and Roll High School); and Dr. Stanley Krippner, who oversaw the so-called dream telepathy experiments at the Capitol Theater in 1971.

In addition to new guests, the Deadcast format will evolve this season as well. The deep focus on a singular subject that was the hallmark of the first two seasons will expand during the second half of season three with standalone episodes touching on a wide variety of topics from the Dead universe.

Along with regular episodes, fans can also expect some surprises along the way, including bonus episodes like the one released on April Fools’ Day. Titled “Hug the Heat, or the Story of the First Dead Tape,” the podcast tells the story of the first-known live Grateful Dead tape and reveals what happens when you try to shut down an Acid Test. The episode features Merry Pranksters Ken Babbs and Denise Kaufman, with additional storytelling by Jerry Garcia.

All episodes of “The Good Ol’ Grateful Deadcast” will be available via iTunes, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Play, Pocket Casts, Overcast and the Rhino channels on YouTube and SoundCloud.

ROD STEWART: 1975-1978

Five-LP Boxed Set Features His First Four Warner Bros. Albums With Newly Remastered Sound, Plus A Bonus LP Of Rare And Unreleased Session Outtakes

Available From Rhino On June 4

LOS ANGELES – Sir Rod Stewart was on his way to becoming one of the most successful recording artists in history in 1974 when he moved to America and signed with Warner Bros. Records (now Warner Records). Over his next 27 years with the label, Stewart released some of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed records of his extraordinary career.

Today, Warner Records goes back to the start of that legendary run with a new boxed set that features Stewart's first four Warner albums on vinyl, plus a bonus LP of rare and unreleased studio outtakes from those albums: Atlantic Crossing (1975), A Night on the Town (1976), Footloose & Fancy Free (1977), and Blondes Have More Fun (1978).

"It's extraordinary for me to look back on this era of my career," says Stewart. "I think fans will enjoy experiencing these songs on vinyl. I know I did."

After being out of print for decades, the studio albums look and sound better than ever as they return to vinyl, complete with replica sleeves and newly remastered sound. The albums and the bonus LP are all organized in an iridescent box with Stewart foil-stamped on the cover, his blonde shag haircut glistening in gold, and his leopard-print suit shimmering in silver. ROD STEWART 1975-1978 will be available on June 4 at retail outlets and digitally. The collection is also currently available for pre-order at Rhino.com.

After brilliant stints with the Jeff Beck Group and the Faces and several outstanding solo albums, Stewart moved to Los Angeles in 1974. ROD STEWART 1975-1978 reflects the burst of creativity that followed, starting in 1975 with his label debut, Atlantic Crossing. The album was produced by the legendary Tom Dowd, who produced Stewart's next three albums.

That four-album run during the 1970s was one of Stewart's most successful. After Atlantic Crossing was certified gold, A Night On the Town went double-platinum, and Foot Loose & Fancy Free went triple-platinum, as did its follow-up Blondes Have More Fun, which became Stewart's first #1 album. That era introduced many of the singer's best-known tracks: "Sailing," "I Don't Want to Talk About It," "I Was Only Joking," "The First Cut Is the Deepest," "You're in My Heart (The Final Acclaim)," "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?" and "Hot Legs."

The bonus LP, titled Encores 1975-1978, is a collection of 10 outtakes selected from the recording sessions for all four albums. The first side highlights five songs from the recent deluxe editions released for Atlantic Crossing and A Night on the Town. Songs include an alternate version of the B-side "Rosie" and a cover of the Bee Gees' "To Love Somebody" recorded with the influential Stax Records house band, Booker T. & The MG's. The flip side features five previously unreleased session outtakes from Foot Loose & Fancy Free and Blondes Have More Fun. Highlights include a cover of the Motown classic, "You Really Got A Hold On Me," and the unreleased tracks "Silver Tongue" and "Don't Hang Up".

This week sees the 50th anniversary of the original U.K. release of The Man Who Sold The World David Bowie’s landmark entry into the 1970s. The album not only began the collaboration with guitarist Mick Ronson that would continue with such Bowie classics as Hunky DoryZiggy Stardust, and Aladdin Sane, but it kicked off a 10-year run of indispensable albums stretching through 1980’s Scary Monsters

The 2020 re-release of The Man Who Sold The World restored the album’s intended title Metrobolist, while featuring a new mix by original producer Tony Visconti. Taking its name from the album’s opening track, which was named after a painting by Bowie’s friend George Underwood, the new two-CD set THE WIDTH OF A CIRCLE acts as a complementary piece to that album. Its 21 tracks feature non-album singles, a BBC In Concert l session, music for a TV play and further Visconti remixes wrapping up Bowie’s recordings from 1970 and revealing the first sonic steps toward Hunky Dory

Also released on May 28 is a picture disc version of THE MAN WHO SOLD THE WORLD album featuring the striking black and white imagery of the 1972 reissue.

Pre-order both titles now at the Rhino.com store.

LOS ANGELES – Stone Temple Pilots embraced experimentation and open-mindedness to record the band’s third album, 1996’s Tiny Music... Songs From The Vatican Gift Shop. Released on March 26, 1996, the album is a pitch-perfect amalgamation of the band members’ musical personalities, yielding three #1 hits – “Big Bang Baby,” “Lady Picture Show,” and “Trippin’ On A Hole In A Paper Heart.” Today, on the eve of the album’s 25th anniversary, Rhino announces the upcoming release of a newly remastered version of Tiny Music... expanded with unreleased studio and live recordings.

TINY MUSIC… SONGS FROM THE VATICAN GIFT SHOP: SUPER DELUXE EDITION will be available on July 23 for $79.98. The 3-CD/1-LP set includes a newly remastered version of the original studio album on both CD and vinyl, plus unreleased early versions, instrumentals, and alternate takes along with a complete concert recording from 1997. On the same day, the music will be made available both digitally as a 2-CD Deluxe Edition. The remastered original album will also be available as a single CD. The previously unreleased “Alternate Version” of “Big Bang Baby” is out today on all digital download and streaming services. Click HERE to listen now.

A limited edition TINY MUSIC… bundle is now available to pre-order at www.stonetemplepilots.com which includes a copy of the Super Deluxe Edition along with a bonus 7-inch vinyl single of “Big Bang Baby” that replicates the artwork of the original CD promo single from 1997. This exclusive bundle is limited to 1,000 copies.

Scott Weiland, Dean DeLeo, Robert DeLeo, and Eric Kretz recorded Tiny Music… at a home studio tucked away in California’s Santa Ynez Valley with Brendan O’Brien, who also produced the band’s two previous albums, Core and Purple. The 25,000-square-foot house became a muse for STP, who recorded in different rooms – from the attic to the garden – and used the expansive space to experiment with new sounds.

Along with a newly remastered version of the original album, both Deluxe Editions feature 15 unreleased tracks that pull back the curtain on the creative process. Those include early versions of nearly every song on the album with nascent incarnations of “Tumble In The Rough,” “Pop’s Love Suicide,” and “Seven Caged Tigers.” The selections also feature an alternate take for “Big Bang Baby,” and a percussion mix of “Trippin’ On A Hole In A Paper Heart.” There are also instrumentals for “Ride The Cliché” and “Adhesive,” plus the unreleased “Kretz’s Acoustic Song.”

An exclusive feature of the Super Deluxe Edition is a previously unreleased live recording of the band’s March 14, 1997 concert in Panama City Beach, Florida. STP is dialed in from start to finish, delivering blistering takes of songs from the new album (“Tumble In The Rough” and “Big Bang Baby”), as well as hits from their earlier records (“Vasoline,” “Plush,” and “Interstate Love Song.”)
