LOS ANGELES – Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young’s Déjà Vu was the most-anticipated new album in America in 1970. More than 50 years later, it’s one of the most famous albums in rock history with legendary songs, including “Carry On” and “Teach Your Children,” that still resonate today.

Rhino will honor the intense creative journey that led to this milestone album with an expansive 4-CD/1-LP collection that includes a pristine version of the original album on both 180-gram vinyl and CD, plus hours of rare and unreleased studio recordings that provide incredible insight into the making of the record. The previously unreleased demo for “Birds” that was recorded during the sessions is available today on all digital download and streaming services. Click HERE to listen now.

DÉJÀ VU: 50TH ANNIVERSARY DELUXE EDITION will be available from Rhino on May 14 for $99.98. Presented in a 12 x 12 hardcover book, the collection comes illustrated with rarely seen photos from the era and annotated by writer/filmmaker Cameron Crowe, whose revealing liner notes recount the making of the album through stories told by the people who were there, including David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Graham Nash, and Neil Young. On the same day, a deluxe vinyl version will also be available with the full content across 5 LPs of 180-gram vinyl. The deluxe vinyl version is available for pre-order now exclusively at CSNY50.com and Rhino.com for $249.98. The music will also be available on digital download and streaming services and in high-resolution audio at www.neilyoungarchives.com. Customers that purchase any version of the release at CSNY50.com or Rhino.com will receive a high-resolution download version as well.

A new line of CSNY Déjà Vu-themed, organic merch made from sustainably sourced materials is also available today exclusively at CSNY50.com and Rhino.com.

Crowe recalls in the liner notes that “Déjà Vu caught the zeitgeist perfectly" and “might just be the legendary band’s most accurate portrait of their fiery individualism.” Of this new Deluxe Edition, Crowe opines: “50 years later, with the sonic aperture fully opened, it’s a wide-screen look at the big picture of Déjà Vu, with more music, including a batch of surprises, unseen photos, and a lot more clarity."

On the new anniversary edition, the album’s original 10 tracks are joined by 38 more to add nearly two-and-a-half hours of music that includes demos, outtakes, and alternate takes – most of which are previously unreleased. Among them is “Know You Got To Run,” the first song the quartet recorded during its first session on July 15 at the house Stills was renting from Peter Tork in Studio City.

Other unreleased highlights include the demo for Crosby’s “Almost Cut My Hair”; Stills’ outtake for “Bluebird Revisited”; and Young’s alternate version of “Helpless” featuring harmonica. Also making its debut on the set is a delightful version of “Our House” that features Nash singing with the song’s inspiration, Joni Mitchell.

MUSIC INSPIRED BY BIGGIE: I GOT A STORY TO TELL

14-Track Digital Album Mixes Songs From The New Netflix Documentary About Biggie’s Life With Key Tracks From His Iconic Career And Is Available Now From Rhino

The Documentary Releases March 1 On Netflix

LOS ANGELES – Christopher Wallace, aka The Notorious B.I.G., lived up to his stage name, leaving behind a legacy that still looms large over the hip-hop industry decades after his death. On Monday, March 1, Netflix will release Biggie: I Got A Story To Tell, a new documentary that celebrates his life through rare footage and in-depth interviews with his family and closest friends.

Rhino will join the celebration with a new digital collection that spotlights the distinctive flow and lyrical storytelling that helped fuel Biggie’s rise to become a hip-hop icon. Available now for download ($9.99) and streaming, the 14-tracks include Grammy®-nominated hits like “Big Poppa,” “Hypnotize,” and “Mo Money Mo Problems.”

During his short but influential career, Biggie inspired legions of fans around the world while earning critical acclaim with his two studio albums, Ready to Die (1994) and Life After Death (1997), which were certified six-times platinum and diamond, respectively. Those albums elevated him to hip-hop royalty with tracks like “Juicy,” “Gimme The Loot,” and “I Got A Story To Tell,” which are all featured in the new documentary.

The collection also has music not featured in the documentary, including selections from the posthumous albums released after Biggie’s 1997 murder, including “Notorious B.I.G.” and “Dead Wrong” from Born Again (1999) and “Nasty Girl” from Duets: The Final Chapter (2005).

Made in collaboration with Biggie’s estate, Biggie: I Got A Story To Tell is an intimate rendering of a man whose rapid ascent and tragic end has been at the center of rap lore for more than twenty years. Directed by Emmett Malloy, this intimate documentary features rare footage filmed by his best friend Damion “D-Roc” Butler and new interviews with his closest friends and family, revealing a side of Christopher Wallace that the world never knew. The film features interviews with Voletta Wallace, mother of The Notorious B.I.G., and Sean “Diddy” Combs who also serve as executive producers of the documentary.

Wallace said: “This will be the first documentary to focus on the experiences of my son’s life and the art of his music rather than the circumstances of his death. It is a celebration of who he was and where he came from. It shows the sort of in-depth storytelling that Christopher loved. This is how he would have wanted to be remembered.”

Biggie: I Got A Story To Tell is produced by David Koh, Wayne Barrow, William Green, Aaron L. Ginsburg, Terry Leonard, Daniel Pappas and executive produced by Sean Combs, Voletta Wallace, Mark Pitts, Stanley Buchthal, and Emmett and Brendan Malloy.

Jethro Tull Celebrates 40 Years Of A

3-CD/3-DVD Anniversary Collection Expands The Group’s 1980 Album With Steven Wilson’s Newly Remixed Version Of The Original, Plus Unreleased Studio And Live Recordings, And A Remixed Version Of The Slipstream Video Collection

Available On April 16 From Rhino

After completing its acclaimed folk-rock trilogy in 1979, Jethro Tull returned a year later with A, an album that introduced a different sound and a new line-up. Originally intended as a solo record by the band’s founder Ian Anderson, the album’s single-letter title refers to the studio tapes, which were marked “A” for Anderson. When the album was finished, the group’s label Chrysalis insisted that it be credited to Jethro Tull, even though only two members from the band’s previous incarnation were featured: Anderson and guitarist Martin Barre. Despite that, the album and subsequent tour were well-received by fans around the world.

To mark the album’s anniversary, Jethro Tull ‘A’ (A LA MODE) (THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION) a new 3-CD/3-DVD set will be released on April 16, 2021. Pre-order here.

Highlights include:

  • Original album and associated recordings newly remixed by Steven Wilson
  • Original album and five associated recordings mixed in DTS and Dolby AC 3, 5.1 Surround, and stereo 96/24 LPCM
  • Full concert from the LA Sports Arena recorded in August 1980
  • Full LA Sports Arena concert mixed by Steven Wilson in DTS and Dolby AC 3, 5.1 Surround, and stereo 96/24 LPCM
  • Flat transfer of the original LP master at 96/24 LPCM stereo
  • DVD of Slipstream video remixed by Steven Wilson in DTS and Dolby AC 3, 5.1 Surround, and stereo 96/24 LPCM
  • Presented in a case-bound DVD book filled with an extensive history of the album, track-by-track annotations by Anderson, rare photographs and much more

Produced by Anderson and Robin Black, A was recorded in London during the summer of 1980 at Maison Rouge Mobile and Maison Rouge Studios. Along with Anderson and Barre, the band also featured Dave Pegg (bass, mandolin) and Mark Craney (drums), along with guest performer Eddie Jobson – a Roxy Music alumnus – on keyboard, synthesizer, and electric violin.

For this new collection, the album has been expanded with five unreleased tracks from the recording sessions, including a different take of the single “Working John, Working Joe,” an extended version of “Crossfire,” and the outtake “Coruisk.”

‘A’ (A LA MODE) (THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION) also includes a live recording from November 1980 of the band’s full concert at the LA Sports Arena. The performance mixed new A tracks (“Black Sunday,” “Batteries Not Included” and “Uniform”) with older hits, like “Aqualung,” “Heavy Horses” and “Songs From The Wood.” A few of these live tracks first appeared in 1981 on Slipstream, a video collection originally released on VHS and Laserdisc. The full Slipstream video, which made its DVD debut in 2004, is also included in this anniversary edition. Here, the content has been newly remixed by Steven Wilson.

LOS ANGELES – When Fleetwood Mac released its first live album in December 1980, it captured the legendary band’s most iconic lineup on stage demonstrating the full scope of their collective, creative powers. Recorded mostly during the world tour for Tusk, Fleetwood Mac Live delivered a double-album’s worth of exhilarating performances that included massive hits like “Dreams” and “Go Your Own Way,” “Rhiannon,” and “Don’t Stop.”

Rhino gives the band’s live debut a much-deserved encore with a new 3-CD/2-LP collection that features a remastered version of the original release on both 180-gram vinyl and CD, plus more than an hour of unreleased live music recorded between 1977 and 1982 on the third CD. The set also includes a bonus 7-inch single featuring previously unreleased demos for “Fireflies” and “One More Night.”

FLEETWOOD MAC LIVE: SUPER DELUXE EDITION will be available from Rhino on April 9 for $99.98. An unreleased live performance of “The Chain” recorded in Cleveland in 1980 is available today on all digital download and streaming services. Click HERE to listen now.

A special “Tour Edition” is also available for pre-order exclusively at the Rhino.com store for $109.98. Limited to 1,000 copies, the “Tour Edition” features the 3-CD/2-LP/7-inch collection plus replica ephemera from the era including a ticket, backstage pass, ad, button, sticker, and iron on patch.

This Super Deluxe Edition is presented in a 12 x 12 rigid slipcase and comes with a booklet filled with rare photos, a full itinerary for the Tusk Tour, plus a history of the live album by writer David Wild. He writes: “Then and now, Fleetwood Mac Live artfully marks a fascinating time period for a group that, in one form or another, has been on the global stage for more than half a century… It’s a wildly entertaining rock ’n’ roll circus in full swing under a big tent of the band’s own creation as they leave audiences dazzled in locales from Paris, France, to Passaic, New Jersey.”

The majority of the original album was recorded live between 1979 and 1980, save for a few exceptions: “Don’t Let Me Down Again,” was recorded in 1975 during the tour for Fleetwood Mac; Dreams” and “Don’t Stop” are from the band’s sound check in Paris; while “Fireflies,” “One More Night,” and a cover of the Beach Boys’ “Farmer’s Daughter” were all recorded in California during a special show for the band’s crew, family, and friends.

The 14 live tracks that debut on the Super Deluxe Edition span a wider range of time than those on the original release. They include seven songs from the Tusk tour (1979-80), four from the Rumours tour (1977) and three from the Mirage tour (1982). These stellar additions include live versions of “Tusk,” “Gold Dust Woman,” and “Songbird,” plus “The Green Manalishi (With The Two-Pronged Crown)” – a song written in 1970 by guitarist Peter Green, who founded Fleetwood Mac with Mick Fleetwood and Jeremy Spencer in 1967.
