LOS ANGELES - Pet Shop Boys are pleased to announce CATALOGUE: 1985-2012, a very special series of reissues that will include of all their studio albums released on Parlophone. This definitive edition will feature each album from the duo's discography on the label, remastered and accompanied by  "further listening" albums of master quality bonus tracks, and demos created in the same period of time as each album, as well as Pet Shop Boys' own remixes of their tracks. Many tracks are being released for the first time. Each album will be packaged with an extensive booklet in which Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe discuss each song, illustrated with many archive photographs. The entire project is designed by Farrow Design.

The reissue series begins on July 28, with the release of three very different-sounding PSB albums: Nightlife, Release, and Fundamental. Each album is available on 180-gram vinyl, as well as on CD and digitally. The pre-order starts today with the track "For All Of Us" from  Nightlife / Further Listening available for immediate download.

Nightlife, their darkly orchestrated collaboration with producers Rollo, Craig Armstrong and David Morales, originally released in 1999, is reissued with two "Further Listening" discs, including exclusive, unreleased tracks such as "Tall Thin Men," and "For All Of Us," as well as demo versions of "Vampires," "Call Me Old-Fashioned," and "Radiophonic."

Also seeing a remastered reissue will be the album Release, featuring Johnny Marr on guitar. It also comes with two "further listening" albums of additional tracks, including unreleased songs "Motoring," "The Night Is A Time To Explore Who You Are," "Run, Girl, Run," and "Reunion," as well as previously-unreleased John Peel versions of "A Powerful Friend," and "If  Looks Could Kill," as well as previously-unreleased cover version of Gilbert O'Sullivan's "Alone Again, Naturally" featuring Elton John.

The third PSB album to feature in this first batch of reissues is Fundamental, their magnificent Trevor Horn-produced album. As well as the remastered original album, there's a 22-track "further listening" album of additional material including demos of unreleased songs such as "Ring Road," "One-way Street," and "Dancing In The Dusk," alongside previously-unreleased mixes and remixes.

RAMONES: LEAVE HOME 40th ANNIVERSARY DELUXE EDITION

3CD/1 Vinyl LP Deluxe Edition Features New 40th Anniversary Mix By

Album Engineer/Mixer Ed Stasium Plus A Newly Remastered Version Of The Original Mix, Rarities, And Unreleased Studio And Live Recordings

Available July 21 From Rhino

LOS ANGELES – Following the success of last year’s 40th anniversary edition of the Ramones’ debut album comes a deluxe version of the group’s follow-up, Leave Home. Originally released in January 1977, this 30-minute opus of buzzsaw rock introduced fans to classics like “Pinhead” “California Sun,” and “Swallow My Pride.”

To celebrate the album’s indelible legacy, Rhino will release two versions on July 21. The 3CD/1 Vinyl LP LEAVE HOME: 40th ANNIVERSARY DELUXE EDITION will be available for $64.98. It contains two different mixes of the album, a remastered version of the original and a new 40th anniversary mix by original Leave Home album engineer/mixer Ed Stasium, along with a treasure trove of unheard recordings, and an unreleased live show recorded in 1977 at CBGB’s. The newly remastered original version will also be released as a single CD ($7.98). Both titles will be available via digital download and streaming as well.

The deluxe edition will be produced in a limited and numbered edition of 15,000 copies worldwide and comes packaged in a 12 x 12 hardcover book. In addition to the music, the set also features stories about the band by legendary former manager Danny Fields, as told to renowned music scribe Michael Azerrad, as well as details about making the album by Stasium.

The first disc features two different mixes of Leave Home, opening with a remastered version of the original stereo mix. The highlight is the new 40th anniversary mix of the full album, created by Stasium from the original multi-track tapes, and designed to better reflect the Ramones’ raw power and beef up the sound. In the set’s liner notes he writes: “Generally, the consensus was [the original] maybe sounded too clean, the guitars panned completely left-right detracted from the band’s foreboding presence, and the reverb effects especially were a little excessive.” The new 40th anniversary mix is also featured on the LP that accompanies this deluxe edition.

The second disc is overflowing with more than two dozen rare and unreleased recordings. It begins with rough mixes for 15 tracks recorded for Leave Home at Sundragon studio in New York. Most are missing elements that had yet to be recorded, offering fascinating insight into the band’s recording process and the development of the album. Also included are “Sheena Is A Punk Rocker” and “Babysitter,” both of which served as replacement songs on the US and UK versions of the album, respectively, when the band removed “Carbona Not Glue” from the track list shortly after initial release. The disc concludes with a combination of 18 alternate mixes and instrumental versions of all tracks from the album.

The final disc features an unreleased recording of the band’s concert at CBGB’s on April 2, 1977. The show took place a few months after Leave Home was released and includes live performances of album tracks like “Suzy Is A Headbanger,” “Oh Oh I Love Her So,” and “Babysitter,” the latter of which was only performed live a handful of times, along with classics like “Blitzkrieg Bop” and “Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue.”

SINGLES CHART

The Band Celebrates The Golden Anniversary Of Its First Number One Hit With A
Limited Edition 7" Replica Of The Japanese Version Of The Original 1967 Single

Available On Vinyl On July 28

LOS ANGELES - On July 29, it will be 50 years since the Doors hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart with "Light My Fire," one of the biggest songs from the Summer of Love and the band's best-selling single of all time. Rhino will commemorate the 50th anniversary a day early with the release of a limited edition reproduction of the 7" single that was released in Japan in 1967.

Limited to just 7,500 vinyl copies, LIGHT MY FIRE will be available on July 28 for a suggested price of $7.98. The sleeve replicates the artwork that was unique to the original Japanese release and contains the original A and B sides: the single edit of "Light My Fire" and the album version of "The Crystal Ship."

Guitarist Robby Krieger wrote most of LIGHT MY FIRE, which also happened to be the first song he ever wrote. The track - along with the Doors' first single "Break On Through" - helped fuel the band's early success and made stars of Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, John Densmore, and Krieger.

Released in May 1967, LIGHT MY FIRE was the second single from the Doors' eponymous debut, a multi-platinum classic that's considered by many today to be among rock's finest debut albums. The song entered the Billboard chart on June 3, and after a few weeks it had climbed to the top, reaching number one on July 29. Both LIGHT MY FIRE and the Doors' debut album have been inducted in to the Grammy® Hall Of Fame.

In September 1967, the song was at the center of controversy when the Doors performed LIGHT MY FIRE live on "The Ed Sullivan Show." Instead of altering the lyric "girl, we couldn't get much higher" to appease the show's producer, Morrison sang the original live. The incident ended any possibility of the group returning to the show, but it became part of the band's legend and a memorable expression of its rebellious spirit. When producers informed The Doors that they had been banned from the show in the future, Morrison reportedly replied, "Hey, man, we just did the Sullivan show."

SUMMER OF LOVE

Rhino Celebrates The 50th Anniversary Of The Cultural Phenomenon With Several
Vinyl Re-Issues, Plus New Compilations From Grateful Dead, The Monkees, and More

The First Releases Arrive On July 11

LOS ANGELES – The summer of 1967 was a turning point in popular culture that drew as many as 100,000 young people to San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury neighborhood. It represented a social convergence driven by free thinking, hippie fashion, political upheaval, sexual freedom, drug use and creative expression. As the movement spread around the world, it led to an outpouring of poetry, artwork, and especially music.

In July, Rhino will launch its 50th anniversary celebration of the Summer of Love with vinyl re-issues of key albums from that era along with new compilations that provide a soundtrack to this defining moment of the Sixties.

The Grateful Dead were at the epicenter of the Haight-Ashbury scene and the band is well-represented during the celebration with Smiling On A Cloudy Day. This new compilation brings together 10 songs from the band’s early psychedelic period and includes tracks like “Morning Dew,” “China Cat Sunflower” and “St. Stephen.” The collection will be released on LP ($21.98) and CD ($7.98) on July 11.

More releases will arrive on July 11, including The Best of Peter, Paul & Mary: Ten Years Together ($21.98) and the mono version of Love’s self-titled debut ($21.98). Other releases include colored vinyl editions of The Association’s Insight Out ($21.98), The Young Rascals Groovin’ ($21.98) and The Beau Brummels’ Triangle ($21.98).

The next group of releases comes out on July 18 and features the mono version of Alice’s Restaurant by Arlo Guthrie ($24.98), The Electric Prune’s eponymous debut on purple vinyl ($21.98), Van Morrison’s Astral Weeks on clear vinyl ($24.98) and Vanilla Fudge’s self-titled debut on white vinyl ($21.98).

A new compilation from The Monkees will also be released the same day. Summer of Love includes 12 tracks that focus on the group’s lesser-known psychedelic side. The collection will be released on LP ($21.98) and CD ($7.98). The LP Gettin’ Together: Groovy Sounds of the Summer of Love will also be released on July 18 for $14.98. Its 16 tracks spotlight memorable hits from 1967 like “Hip Hug-Her” by Booker T. & The M.G.’s, “You Keep Me Hanging On” by Vanilla Fudge and “Windy” by The Association.

The final round of releases from this Sumer of Love celebration will arrive on July 25 and includes Dusty In Memphis by Dusty Springfield ($24.98), Goodbye and Hello by Tim Buckley ($24.98) and the mono version Aretha Arrives by Aretha Franklin ($24.98). In addition, Wildflowers by Judy Collins will be pressed on translucent yellow vinyl ($21.98) and The Zodiac’s Cosmic Sounds will be pressed on glow-in-the-dark vinyl ($17.98).

And last, but certainly not least, is a new Nuggets collection – Transparent Days: West Coast Nuggets ($31.98). Pressed on transparent vinyl, this two-LP collection includes 30 songs by artists like The Peanut Butter Conspiracy (“Time Is After You,”) The Mojo Men (“She’s My Baby,”) M.C. 2 (“Smiling”) and Love (“Your Mind & We Belong Together”).

Music has always played a central role in Lynch's work and it helped establish the haunting, dreamlike nature of the original Twin Peaks. The same is true for the new series. Much like the plot of the show, the songs that appear on the new soundtracks will be revealed gradually over the course of the season's 18 episodes. The first track as heard on the debut episode is "Twin Peaks Main Theme" by Grammy-winning composer Angelo Badalamenti, whose music is inextricably linked to the original series and film. The second track is "Shadow" by Chromatics, an electronic band based in Los Angeles, and will be on their new album Dear Tommy. Chromatics will release the video for "Shadow" immediately after Twin Peaks airs.

Directed entirely by David Lynch, the new SHOWTIME 18-part limited event series Twin Peaks picks up 25 years after the inhabitants of a quaint northwestern town were stunned when their homecoming queen Laura Palmer was shockingly murdered. Golden Globe®-winning and Emmy® Award-nominated Kyle MacLachlan stars as FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper. Twin Peaks is written and executive produced by series creators David Lynch and Mark Frost, and is executive produced by Sabrina S. Sutherland.
