Rhino.com Relaunches Online Store With Exclusive Releases And Merchandise

Los Angeles — Rhino Records, Warner Music Group’s renowned catalog label, as part of their ongoing 40th anniversary celebration, has launched today That’s Aught: The ’00s Pop Culture Box, the label’s first ever digital-only boxed set. The collection follows in the tradition of Rhino’s previous decade-specific pop culture boxes from the past that focused on the 1970s (Have A Nice Decade), 1980s (Like, Omigod!) and 1990s (Whatever). That’s Aught: The 2000s Pop Culture Box is available now to stream on Apple Music, Pandora, Spotify, and YouTube. Listen now.

Arranged in (roughly) chronological order, the 150 song collection melds the tracks that defined the decade across all genres, from pop and hip-hop radio hits to the sounds of underground rock and dance movements. Not only is That’s Aught: The ‘00s Pop Culture Box the first Rhino boxed set to live exclusively in the digital space, but it is also the first to be compiled by the collective minds of all the Rhino Records staff, the cream of the crop in terms of music and pop culture knowledge, with countless hours of debate leading to the final list.

Launching with *NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye,” That’s Aught blasts the listener back to the first moments of the new millennium with massive hits Madonna (“Music”), U2 (“Beautiful Day”), and Destiny’s Child (“Survivor”) to early tracks from future superstar acts like Coldplay (“Yellow”), Linkin Park (“In The End”), and Alicia Keys (“Fallin’”).

The next nine hours weaves through ten years of songs as eclectic as the decade itself, from The White Stripes to The Flaming Lips, from Eminem to Missy Elliott, from Gnarls Barkley to Daft Punk, wrapping up with some of 2009’s definitive tracks from Jason Derulo, The Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, and Muse.

In conjunction with this new collection, Rhino has also launched streaming versions of some of their most beloved physical boxed sets, replicated with identical tracks and sequencing, with the only exception being the handful of songs that are not available on streaming services.

PHIL COLLINS RELEASES REMASTERED VERSIONS OF CLASSIC LIVE
ALBUMS SERIOUS HITS… LIVE! AND A HOT NIGHT IN PARIS
ON FEBRUARY 1

Phil Collins continues his successful reissue campaign with remastered versions of two classic live albums. SERIOUS HITS… LIVE! And A HOT NIGHT IN PARIS will both be released on February 1 via Atlantic / Rhino.

The two albums follow a rediscovery and re-evaluation of his back catalog with the high profile "Take A Look At Me Now" reissue campaign. He subsequently released The Singles collection and delved into the archives for his collaborations compilation Plays Well With Others. Phil Collins is proving as popular as ever in the live arena too. Having just completed a successful North American tour, his Not Dead Yet Live! show heads to Australia and New Zealand in mid-January.

One of the most successful live albums of all-time, SERIOUS HITS… LIVE! was released in 1990 and  has been certified 4x Platinum by the RIAA in recognition of over 4 million copies sold. The album was recorded at various stadium and arena shows throughout his seven-month Seriously, Live! World Tour. It includes performances of many of his huge hits including "In The Air Tonight," "You Can’t Hurry Love," "Against All Odds (Take A Look At Me Now)," "Easy Lover" (with Philip Bailey) and "Another Day In Paradise."

In contrast, 1999’s A HOT NIGHT IN PARIS focused on jazzy instrumental performances of select songs from his solo discography as well as his work with Genesis. With Collins on drums, the album also finds The Phil Collins Big Band playing select covers such as Miles Davis’s "Milestones" and an extended jam of The Average White Band’s "Pick Up The Pieces."

Both albums will be released on CD, digital and vinyl formats, with A HOT NIGHT IN PARIS making its vinyl debut.

RUSH IN RIO DEBUTS ON VINYL

Four-LP Set Includes The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Trio’s Entire 2002 Performance In Rio de Janeiro, Plus Two Bonus Tracks From The Same Tour

Available From Rhino On January 18

LOS ANGELES – Following a nearly five-year break from touring, Rush returned to the stage in 2002 to support the trio’s seventeenth studio album, Vapor Trails. During the tour, Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart played to some of the biggest crowds of the band’s career, including 40,000 people at the tour’s final stop in Rio de Janeiro. That concert was released in 2003 as RUSH IN RIO, which was certified gold in the U.S. and Canada.

That live album was originally released on CD and DVD, but has never appeared on vinyl – until now. RUSH IN RIO will be available on January 18 as four 180-gram LPs. The set is presented in a heavyweight gatefold jacket and comes with a code that allows the music to be downloaded digitally.

The collection includes all 29-songs the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers’ performed at the concert in Rio, plus two bonus tracks that were recorded at other stops during the Vapor Trails Tour. “Between Sun & Moon” was recorded on September 27, 2002 in Phoenix, AZ and “Vital Signs” was recorded on October 19, 2002 in Quebec City, Quebec.

Guitarist Alex Lifeson states, “In all the years of touring, few gigs matched the energy we witnessed from the Rio audience.  Throughout the night, they sang along to every song, which was quite a feat considering English is not so commonly spoken there.  They even sang robustly during ‘YYZ’ and that's an instrumental! In fact, during mixing, we often pulled the band tracks down and just listened to the audience and it was mind-blowing.  We were all so surprised by the welcome we received and the deep connection our fans had to Rush.  It remains one of the greatest highlights we've experienced in over 40 years of touring.”

Making the show in Rio rare and extraordinary, fan favorites that are rarely played together on the same night were peppered throughout the set list. This included the sprawling sci-fi epic “2112,” as well as “Closer To The Heart,” “YYZ,” “Freewill,” “New World Man,” “Tom Sawyer,” and “Limelight.” One of concert’s high points is Peart’s drum solo, which is titled “O Baterista,” Portuguese for “the drummer.” That performance earned the group a Grammy Award ® nomination for the Best Rock Instrumental Performance.

The songs that appear on RUSH IN RIO span the group’s entire career up to that point, including several tracks from Vapor Trails: “Earthshine,” “One Little Victory,” “Ghost Rider” and “Secret Touch.” The remainder of the set list touches on most of Rush’s studio albums, including 1996’s Test For Echo (“Driven,” and a rare acoustic performance of “Resist”); 1984’s Grace Under Pressure (“Distant Early Warning” and “Red Sector A”); 1980’s Permanent Waves (“The Spirit Of Radio” and “Natural Science”) and 1974’s self-titled debut (“Working Man.”)

Since forming in 1968, Rush has become one of the world’s most-popular progressive rock bands. Between its debut album in 1974 and its final large-scale tour in 2015, the band has sold more than 40 million albums around the world, earning 24 gold, 14 platinum and three multi-platinum albums.

LOS ANGELES - Depeche Mode 12" vinyl singles project continues with the release of CONSTRUCTION TIME AGAIN | THE 12" SINGLES and SOME GREAT REWARD | THE 12" SINGLES on December 14.

Each of these definitive boxed sets contains six 12" vinyl singles contemporaneous to either Construction Time Again (1983) or Some Great Reward (1984). A pair of pivotal releases in the Depeche Mode canon, these albums significantly advanced the band's sound and vision, introducing audiences to some of the most inventive mixes in DM history while catapulting their international mass appeal to soaring new heights.

Construction Time Again marked the first time that Depeche Mode released limited edition versions of an album's 12" singles, each containing the original mix of each track. With this and Some Great Reward, Depeche Mode's commitment to the 12" single format as a distinct art form became even more evident.

CONSTRUCTION TIME AGAIN | THE 12" SINGLES and SOME GREAT REWARD | THE 12" SINGLES contain reproductions of limited edition versions of releases showcasing rare tracks, alternate mixes, 7" vinyl versions, live shows and more. Both will be available on December 14 for $124.98.

CONSTRUCTION TIME AGAIN | THE 12" SINGLES includes three reproductions of limited singles which each feature four bonus live performances recorded at London's Hammersmith Odeon on October 25, 1982. SOME GREAT REWARD | THE 12" SINGLES includes select live recordings from the Liverpool Empire Theatre, recorded September 29, 1984.

Groundbreaking 12" single tracks like "Everything Counts" (from Construction Time Again) and "People Are People" (from Some Great Reward) became staples in Depeche Mode's live shows; the new 12" singles boxed sets feature extended versions plus original 7" mixes of these songs. SOME GREAT REWARD | THE 12" SINGLES includes a new version of the 7" "Blasphemous Rumours" EP, available on 12" vinyl for the first time ever.

Depeche Mode embraced the power of 12" vinyl and the avenues of innovation it opened up. The 12" single allowed the band to explore new sonic possibilities while the physical beauty of the packaging gave Depeche Mode room to develop a sophisticated and commanding visual aesthetic. Depeche Mode used their singles discography as a means of offering left field remixes and other delights for their fans.

The first two boxed sets in the series, Speak & Spell | The Singles and A Broken Frame | The Singles were released on August 31.

Each boxed set in the series will contain the singles from each Depeche Mode album on audiophile-quality 12" vinyl, with audio mastered from the original tapes at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. The artwork for the exterior of each of the new boxed sets draws on street art iconography inspired by the original releases, while the vinyl sleeves themselves feature the original single artwork.

The Depeche Mode 12" Singles Series will continue over the coming years, with plans to release boxes containing the singles from each of the band's albums in similar deluxe audiophile-grade collector's editions.

Depeche Mode recently completed the Global Spirit Tour, a worldwide concert tour that started in May 2017 and finished summer 2018 with a pair of shows at the Waldbühne in Berlin on July 23 and 25. The 15-month Global Spirit Tour saw the band play to more than 3 million fans across Europe, North America and South America.
