READY TO DIE 25th ANNIVERSARY EDITION

Limited Edition, Individually Numbered Boxed Set Celebrates The Multi-Platinum Album With Colored 7-inch 45 Rpm Vinyl That Features Every Song From Ready to Die, Plus Two Bonus Tracks

Available On GetOnDown.com In Partnership With Rhino On September 13

LOS ANGELES – The Notorious B.I.G. helped reinvent and revitalize East Coast hip-hop 25 years ago with his 1994 debut, Ready to Die. Today, the album has been certified platinum six times and is regarded as not only one of the best hip-hop albums ever made, but also one of the best albums of all time.

Rhino, in partnership with GetOnDown.com, honors this groundbreaking album with a new limited-edition boxed set that features every album track – plus two bonus tracks – on nine 7” colored-vinyl singles (black, white and red vinyl). READY TO DIE: 25TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION BOXED SET will be available for $79.98 on September 13, the anniversary date of the original release.

Individually numbered and limited to 3,500 copies, the set is presented in a cigar-style box with metallic and gloss accents, and includes a booklet filled with liner notes by veteran hip hop journalist and author Kathy Iandoli, never-before-seen photos from the era, as well as exclusive stories by Easy Mo Bee and Chucky Thompson, who helped produce the album.

After earning acclaim for his guest appearances on other artists’ songs, Biggie (born Christopher Wallace) began recording his own album in New York City in 1993. Ready to Die was eventually completed in 1994 and released on Bad Boy Records, which was founded by the album’s executive producer, Sean “Puffy” Combs.

Mainly an autobiographical album, Ready To Die showcases Biggie’s immaculate storytelling on 17 tracks that explore his life and experiences as a drug dealer. It takes listeners on a journey that spans from the character’s birth, to his time on the streets, and ultimately ends with his suicide.

The album’s first single, “Juicy,” was certified gold and reached #3 on the Hot Rap Singles chart, crossing over to the Billboard Hot 100 chart to peak at #27. The second single, “Big Poppa,” was an even bigger hit, topping the Rap and R&B charts and reaching #6 on the Hot 100. Certified platinum, “Big Poppa” was also nominated for a Grammy® Award for Best Rap Solo Performance. A remix of “One More Chance” once again topped the Rap and R&B charts while peaking at #2 on the Hot 100.

Sadly, this would be the only studio album released during Biggie’s lifetime. He was killed on March 9, 1997, just 16 days before the release of his second album – Life After Death.

Parlophone Records is proud to announce DAVID BOWIE CONVERSATION PIECE, a five-CD boxed set and digital equivalent tracking Bowie’s early development throughout 1968 and 1969, via his home demos, BBC radio sessions, studio recordings with guitarist  John ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson, and the experimental music and mime group, Feathers to be released on November 15. The collection also celebrates the 50th anniversaries of the releases of the “Space Oddity” single and Bowie’s second album, David Bowie (aka Space Oddity).

DAVID BOWIE CONVERSATION PIECE contains 12 previously unreleased tracks/demos from the period as well as a brand new mix of the Space Oddity (aka David Bowie) album by long-time Bowie producer/collaborator Tony Visconti.

The new mix of the album now features the title track of the boxed set, “Conversation Piece,” restored to the track listing in its initially intended position before it was originally dropped due to time constraints of the vinyl.

Of the 2019 Space Oddity album mix Visconti says, “It was so much fun to find hidden gems of musicianship with more time to mix the second time around, a guitar twiddle here, a trombone blast there, Marc Bolan’s voice in a group choir and more detail in general that we overlooked all those years ago when the label gave us a week at the most to mix this album. And in the details you will find 22 year old David Bowie, who would soon take the world by storm."

The 120-page hardback book accompanying the box features exclusive memorabilia from the personal collection of Bowie’s former manager, the late Ken Pitt, as well as from the David Bowie Archive® and includes photos by Ray Stevenson, Vernon Dewhurst, David Bebbington, Alec Byrne, and Jojanneke Claasen.

The sleeve notes have been written for the release by Bowie experts Mark Adams, Tris Penna, and Kevin Cann along with contributions from Bowie’s lifelong friend George Underwood, Vernon Dewhurst, and Dana Gillespie.

The 2019 mix of Space Oddity will also be released separately on CD, standard digital, 96/24 digital, and vinyl. The various vinyl configurations will be randomly distributed worldwide with a mixture of hand-numbered labels: numbers 1 to 1969 on silver vinyl numbers and 1970 to 2019 on gold vinyl, with the remainder being black vinyl.

ROD STEWART: THE STUDIO ALBUMS 1975-2001

New Boxed Set Features Every Studio Album The Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer

Recorded During His Remarkable 26-Year Run With Warner Bros. Records

14-Disc Collection Available On September 13

One of the most successful recording artists in history, Sir Rod Stewart cut some of his most memorable music during his epic 26-year tenure with Warner Bros. Records (now Warner Records). During that time, he released 14 studio albums, achieving both international success and critical acclaim thanks to massive hits like “Tonight’s the Night (Gonna Be Alright),” “Infatuation,” “Love Touch” and “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?”

Today, Warner Records celebrates one of the most talented singers in rock and pop music with the announcement of a 14-disc boxed set that includes all of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s studio albums recorded for the label. Presented in a clamshell box, THE STUDIO ALBUMS 1975-2001 will be available on September 13 at retail outlets and digitally. The album is also currently available for pre-order at Rhino.com.

After brilliant stints with the Jeff Beck Group and the Faces, as well as several outstanding solo albums, Stewart moved to Los Angeles in 1974 and joined Warner Bros. Records. Atlantic Crossing, his 1975 debut with the label, was produced by the legendary Tom Dowd, who produced Stewart’s next three albums. That four-album run during the 1970s was one of Stewart’s most successful. After Atlantic Crossing was certified gold, A Night On the Town went double-platinum and Foot Loose & Fancy Free went triple-platinum, as did its follow-up Blondes Have More Fun, which became Stewart’s first #1 album. That era gave rise to many of the singer’s most beloved tracks, like “Sailing,” “I Don’t Want to Talk About It,” “I Was Only Joking,” “The First Cut Is the Deepest,” “You’re in My Heart (The Final Acclaim),” and “Hot Legs.”

Stewart’s chart success continued into the 1980s with a string of Top 10 hits that included: “Passion,” “Young Turks,” “Infatuation,” “Some Guys Have All the Luck,” “Love Touch” and “My Heart Can’t Tell You No.” After opening the decade with back-to-back platinum albums — Foolish Behaviour and Tonight I’m Yours — the singer ended it on a high note with the double-platinum success of Out of Order, which was produced by Duran Duran’s Andy Taylor and Chic’s Bernard Edwards.

He notched platinum records in three consecutive decades in 1991 when Vagabond Heart hit the million-seller mark while peaking at #10 on the album chart. In 1995, a year after Stewart was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his solo career, he released Spanner In the Works, a gold-certified album that included “Leave Virginia Alone,” a stellar track written by Tom Petty. Following the mostly-covers album When We Were the New Boys, the singer returned with his final album for Warner Bros. Records, Human, which featured the hit “I Can’t Deny It.”

DAVID BOWIE
VH1 STORYTELLERS
LIMITED 2-LP AVAILABLE FOR THE FIRST TIME
ON OCTOBER 11 FROM PARLOPHONE

On August 23, 1999, David Bowie played an intimate set for invited guests at The Manhattan Center’s Grand Ballroom in New York for the VH1 Storytellers series. 10 years later in 2009, a CD/DVD/download of the evening was released. 20 years later, the most complete version will be released as a limited edition 2-LP set on October 11.

The VH1 Storytellers TV series debuted in 1996 and featured several of music’s biggest names performing in front of a live audience while telling stories about the inspirations and memories associated with each song. Some of the artists the show has hosted are Bruce Springsteen, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Bee Gees, Kanye West, and Steely Dan.

The Bowie set has long been regarded as one of the most memorable episodes in VH1 Storytellers history, with Bowie delving deep into his catalogue to perform tracks such as
“Can’t Help Thinking About Me” for the first time in 33 years, Aladdin Sane’s “Drive-In Saturday” which he had not performed since 1974, and “Word On A Wing,” which received its first outing in 23 years.

Bill Flanagan, executive producer of VH1 Storytellers said, “We were used to dealing with legendary musicians. Still, landing David Bowie was more than a big booking. There's no way to say this without being corny: it was an honor. Bowie has a unique place in rock & roll. He is not only one of the most influential musicians of the era, but he does nothing unless he is fully committed.”

Parlophone Records will release a limited edition 2-LP to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this exceptional show.
