Jethro Tull released Stormwatch in September 1979, completing a folk-rock trilogy the band started with Songs from the Wood in 1977 and continued the following year with Heavy Horses. Certified gold in the U.S., Stormwatch was also the final album to feature the classic late-1970s Jethro Tull lineup, which included Ian Anderson, Martin Barre, John Glascock, John Evan, David (now Dee) Palmer and Barriemore Barlow.

To celebrate the album’s upcoming anniversary, Rhino will release STORMWATCH: 40th ANNIVERSARY FORCE 10 EDITION. This new 4CD/2DVD set will be available on October 18 for $64.98.

Highlights include:
•    Original album and associated recordings newly remixed by Steven Wilson
•    Full concert from the Netherlands recorded in March 1980
•    Original album and 13 associated recordings mixed to 5.1 DTS and AC3 Dolby Digital
•    Flat transfer of the original 1979 mix at 96/24 LPCM stereo
•    15 associated recordings mixed to 96/24 LPCM stereo and five original mixes at 96/24 LPCM stereo
•    Presented in a case-bound DVD book filled with an extensive history of the album, track-by-track annotations by Anderson and Palmer, rare photographs and more

The recording sessions for Stormwatch stretched from August 1978 to July 1979 as the album’s ecological and maritime themes slowly came into focus on songs like “North Sea Oil” and “Flying Dutchman.” The band recorded several tracks that were left off the album because they didn’t fit the theme. Many of those can be found on the second disc of this set, including “Man Of God,” “Crossword,” “Kelpie” and “The Lyricon Blues.” In addition to those outtakes, the disc also features early versions of the album tracks “Dark Ages” and “Dun Ringill.”

STORMWATCH: 40th ANNIVERSARY FORCE 10 EDITION also includes a previously unreleased recording of Jethro Tull’s concert at Congreßgebouw in the Netherlands on March 16, 1980. The career-spanning performance mixed new Stormwatch tracks (“Something’s On The Move,” “Home” and “Elegy”) with older hits, like “Locomotive Breath,” “Aqualung,” “Thick As A Brick” and “Minstrel In The Gallery.”

STORMWATCH: 40th ANNIVERSARY FORCE 10 EDITION concludes with two audio-only DVDs that feature various mixes of the original album along with the associated recordings featured in this set.

Stormwatch marked the end of an era for Jethro Tull. Due to his deteriorating health, bassist John Glascock missed most of the sessions for the album and only appears on three of its songs (“Flying Dutchman,” “Orion” and “Elegy.”) Tragically, Glascock died shortly after the album was released. The lineup changed even more following the tour to promote the album as Barlow, Evan and Palmer left the group.

ROD STEWART WITH THE ROYAL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA

The Singer-Songwriter Celebrates 50 Years As A Solo Artist

You’re In My Heart Combines Classic Vocals From The Biggest Hits With Newly Recorded Arrangements By The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

Highlights Include A New Recording Of “It Takes Two” Featuring Robbie Williams As Well As A Brand New Song From Rod Stewart “Stop Loving Her Today”

Available On November 22 From Rhino

LOS ANGELES – Sir Rod Stewart (knighted in 2016) celebrates 50 years as a solo artist this year. The legendary singer-songwriter is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with more than 250 million records sold worldwide during a stellar career that includes nine #1 albums and 26 Top 10 singles in the U.K. Plus, 17 Top 10 albums and 16 Top 10 singles in the US. Rhino will honor the legendary singer-songwriter with a new album that lets fans hear Stewart’s biggest hits in a newly imagined way.

YOU’RE IN MY HEART: ROD STEWART WITH THE ROYAL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA pairs classic vocal tracks from his most popular songs with new arrangements performed by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The result is a timeless record that retains the power, soul and passion that have fueled Stewart’s legacy from the start. The album also features a new version of the hit song “It Takes Two” featuring Robbie Williams and a brand-new song “Stop Loving Her Today” by Rod Stewart. The album will be released November 22 as a 1-CD ($18.98) and as a 2-CD ($24.98) that features the full orchestral arrangements. The music will also be available to download digitally and via streaming services.

Produced by Trevor Horn, YOU’RE IN MY HEART includes new orchestral versions of Stewart’s #1 U.K. hits: “Sailing,” “I Don’t Want To Talk About It” and “The First Cut Is The Deepest.” The collection also features versions of “Maggie May” and “Reason To Believe” – songs that topped the charts in both the U.K. and the U.S. in 1971.

YOU’RE IN MY HEART is packed with Stewart’s best-known songs, including versions of the Top 10 U.K. hits: “Tonight’s The Night (Gonna Be Alright) (a #1 smash in the U.S.), “The Killing of Georgie (Part 1 and II),” “You’re In My Heart (The Final Acclaim),” “I Was Only Joking,” “What Am I Gonna Do (I’m So In Love With You),” “Every Beat Of My Heart,” “Downtown Train,” “Rhythm Of My Heart” and a cover of Tom Waits’ “Tom Traubert’s Blues (Waltzing Matilda).”

Alongside Stewart’s major hits are fan favorites like: “Young Turks,” “Forever Young,” “If We Fall In Love Tonight,” a version of “Handbags And Gladrags” from his multi-platinum acoustic album, Unplugged…and Seated and “Stay With Me,” a Top 40 hit he recorded with the Faces in 1971.

After a triumphant stadium tour this summer, the release of YOU'RE IN MY HEART coincides with the continuation of Stewart's biggest UK tour ever with live performances in November and December. In addition, he returns to Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, and a show this September at The Hollywood Bowl with a landmark reunion set with his former bandmate Jeff Beck.

VAN HALEN
THE JAPANESE SINGLES 1978-1984

7” Vinyl Collection Features Replicas Of The 13 Singles And B-Sides Previously Released Exclusively In Japan From The Band’s First Six Multi-Platinum Albums

Available On Black Vinyl On November 1,
Limited Edition Red Vinyl Version Available Only At Rhino.com

LOS ANGELES – Van Halen released 13 singles in Japan between 1978 and 1984 that will be collected in a new 7” vinyl set from Rhino. Each replica single features the original sleeve artwork and comes housed in a cigarette-style box. Two versions of THE JAPANESE SINGLES 1978-1984 will be available on November 1: a black vinyl version and a limited edition version of 750 copies on red vinyl, which is available now to pre-order at Rhino.com. Both versions have a suggested retail price of $129.98.

THE JAPANESE SINGLES 1978-1984 encompasses the first six albums released by Van Halen, which featured guitarist Eddie Van Halen, drummer Alex Van Halen, singer David Lee Roth, and bassist Michael Anthony. Those albums include the band’s self-titled debut and 1984, which were both certified Diamond for U.S. sales in excess of 10 million. This rare feat places them on an elite short list of double RIAA-certified Diamond Award honorees.

The original album version of each song is featured in this set except for: “Hot For Teacher,” which has a unique single edit that was issued exclusively in Japan; along with the single edit versions of “(Oh) Pretty Woman” and “I’ll Wait.”

THE JAPANESE SINGLES 1978-1984 opens with a trio of singles from Van Halen (1978): “Ain’t Talkin’ ’Bout Love,” “On Fire” and a blistering cover of the Kinks’ “You Really Got Me,” which was the band’s first single and first Top 40 hit. The band’s 1979 follow-up Van Halen II (certified 5x platinum) generated two singles on the collection: “Somebody Get Me A Doctor” and “Dance The Night Away.”

The multi-platinum albums Women and Children First (1980) and Fair Warning (1981) are represented by “And The Cradle Will Rock” and “Unchained” respectively. The 1982 album Diver Down (certified 4x platinum) contributes two singles: “(Oh) Pretty Woman” and “Dancing In The Street.” THE JAPANESE SINGLES 1978-1984 concludes with “I’ll Wait,” “Panama,” “Hot For Teacher” and the #1 smash “Jump” – all from VAN HALEN’s seminal album, 1984.

Formed in Los Angeles in 1974, Van Halen changed the rock and roll landscape forever with their eponymous 1978 debut album and subsequently produced a repertoire of hits that remain some of the strongest and most influential rock songs ever written. With more than 75 million albums sold worldwide, and more No. 1 hits on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart than any other artist, the band’s record of achievement is hard to top. VAN HALEN was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.

MADONNA’S FIRST FOUR ALBUMS SET FOR RELEASE
ON CRYSTAL CLEAR VINYL

Madonna, Like A Virgin, True Blue And Who’s That Girl Soundtrack Arrive In Step With Her Upcoming Madame X Tour

Each One Will Be Available On November 8 From Rhino

LOS ANGELES – Rhino today announced the reissue of Madonna’s first four iconic albums – three studio and one soundtrack – on crystal clear vinyl on November 8. Madonna, Like a Virgin, True Blue and Who’s That Girl: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack will be available for $21.98 each. A bundle of all four albums will be available from the Rhino.com store for $69.98.

Madonna’s seminal, self-titled 1983 album is certified five-times platinum and sold over 10 million copies worldwide, captivating audiences with Top 10 hits including “Holiday”, “Lucky Star” and “Borderline”.

Madonna cemented her status as a cultural icon a year later with her follow-up release, Like a Virgin. Produced by Nile Rodgers, the record was her first to top the U.S. albums chart, its title track becoming her first #1 single. Certified diamond, Like a Virgin sold over 21 million copies worldwide. The record features hits including “Dress You Up”, “Angel” and “Material Girl”.

In 1986, Madonna co-wrote and co-produced True Blue, which topped global album charts in 28 countries and the U.S. The critically acclaimed release has sold more than 25 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums in history. All five of its singles reached the Billboard Top Five, including three #1’s – “Live To Tell”, “Papa Don’t Preach” and “Open Your Heart.”

Madonna next starred in the film Who’s That Girl and recorded four songs for its soundtrack. Released in 1987, Who’s That Girl: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack has sold more than six million copies internationally thanks in part to its chart-topping title track and “Causing A Commotion”.

Madonna released her critically acclaimed 14th studio album Madame X this year and is set to embark on a highly anticipated all-theater Madame X Tour. The tour, which visits the U.S. and Europe, begins on September 17 in New York City. For more information, visit Madonna.com.

“I didn’t want to do a double album, but I just kept writing... I always compare songwriting to a girl walking in the door. You don’t know what she’s going to look like, but all of a sudden she’s there.” Prince, November 1982

(Minneapolis, MN – September 10, 2019) – Considered one of the most iconic and influential double albums in rock history, Prince’s 1999 was released at a major turning point in the artist’s career. After years of being relegated to the R&B charts, he experienced his first true crossover moment with the mega-hits “Little Red Corvette,” “1999,” and “Delirious,“ shattering barriers with his revolutionary blend of rock, funk, R&B and new wave pop, and making history by being one of the first black artists to have their videos in heavy rotation on MTV.

The songs included on 1999 were just a small sampling of the work that was pouring out of Prince in the intensely prolific period of 1981 and 1982. In addition to his own material, he was also working up tracks that he would give to his protégés Vanity 6 and The Time, and recording dozens of songs that would be stored for possible later use, archiving them in his growing vault of unreleased material.

This November 29, The Prince Estate, in partnership with Warner Records, will reissue 1999 via all physical, digital and streaming partners, with the timeless album remastered for the very first time, along with 35 previously unreleased tracks from Prince’s legendary vault that showcase the creative flow Prince had tapped into during this era.

The reissue suite will be comprised of the following formats:

•    Super Deluxe Edition (5CD+DVD / 10LP+DVD / audio-only download and streaming)
•    Deluxe Edition (2CD / 4LP 180g vinyl / download and streaming)
•    Remastered album (1CD / 2LP 180g Purple Vinyl / download and streaming)

The 1999 Super Deluxe Edition represents the deepest dive to date into Prince’s vault and includes a total of 65 audio tracks across five CDs and ten 180g vinyl records.

The Super Deluxe Edition brings fans all the audio material that Prince officially released in and around 1982, as well as 23 previously unissued studio tracks recorded between November 1981 and January 1983, and a complete live audio performance of the 1999 tour recorded at the late show (the second of two that day) in Detroit, MI on November 30, 1982.

In addition, both CD and vinyl sets also boast a brand-new DVD containing another complete, previously unreleased concert from the 1999 tour, recorded in multi-cam live at the Houston Summit on December 29, 1982.

The Super Deluxe Edition set also features Prince’s previously unseen handwritten lyrics for several songs from the era, including the hit “Little Red Corvette,” plus images of the analog tape reels from the vault and rare photography from Prince’s early ‘80s photographer, Allen Beaulieu. The Super Deluxe Edition is completed with brand-new liner notes by longtime Rolling Stone critic David Fricke, revered Guns N’ Roses bassist and author Duff McKagan, Minneapolis historian and radio host Andrea Swensson, and Prince scholar Duane Tudahl.

Fricke notes, “A landmark collection of vision, craft, and urgency – an unprecedented immersion in the frenetic momentum and private working world of Prince in 1981 and 1982, en route to the profound breakthrough of his fifth studio album, 1999.”

The 1999 Super Deluxe Edition shines a forensic light on the creative output of this truly unique musician, songwriter, producer, and performer at a pivotal point in his career and demonstrates why his unsurpassed body of work continues to generate so much love and passion around the world.
