WITH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

Rhino Honors The Trio’s Legacy With Album That Pairs Their Unmistakable Harmonies With An Orchestra On Many Of Their Best-Known Songs

Available from Rhino March 9

LOS ANGELES – Folksingers Peter Yarrow, Noel Paul Stookey, and Mary Travers formed a trio in 1960 that would emerge from New York City’s Greenwich Village to become one of the most influential groups of the ’60s. Rhino presents a collection of emotionally powerful performances that feature the trio singing their best-loved songs backed by a full symphony. The album is dedicated to Travers, who passed away September 16, 2009.

PETER, PAUL AND MARY WITH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA: THE PRAGUE SESSIONS will be available March 9 from Rhino at all retail outlets, including www.rhino.com, for a suggested list price of $18.98 (CD) and $10.99 (digital).

The album encompasses 14 live stage performances, all but one previously unreleased, recorded during the ’80s and ’90s by Peter, Paul and Mary and includes many jewels from their celebrated repertoire, such as their #1 hit “Leaving On A Jet Plane,” “Puff, The Magic Dragon,” “Blowin’ In The Wind,” and “Where Have All The Flowers Gone.” The trio’s longtime music director and dear friend Robert DeCormier then combined their voices with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, performing symphonic arrangements DeCormier
had created and developed with Peter, Paul and Mary over the last 30 years. The final track on the album finds the orchestra performing Samuel Barber’s “Adagio For Strings,” an instrumental piece Mary had requested be played at her memorial.

“When the songs and the orchestrations are combined, it’s as if two languages are being spoken simultaneously,” Yarrow says. “One is the language of Peter, Paul and Mary’s voices and the other is a commentary on, and an exchange with, the voices of the trio by the orchestra. In Bob’s hands, the orchestral instruments restate and emphasize the essence of what the trio is feeling.”

Only a few of the songs included here were ever recorded with a symphony orchestra and fewer than 30 live orchestra concerts were ever performed. In the last few years, the trio began discussing how this remarkable aspect of the trio’s musical legacy, one that few of their concert-going fans were able to experience firsthand, should be preserved. Travers was especially resolute that this project be completed. Yarrow recalls that Mary was “determined that this chapter of our creative journey be shared with the public and allowed to tell its story.”

These recordings bring the trio full circle, Stookey says. “This feels like the last page of the photo album, where the family is all collected and everybody’s got their hair combed. It’s Peter, Paul and Mary’s legacy and a way of honoring Mary’s sensitivity to the scope and importance of the music we shared.”

LOS ANGELES– Following critically acclaimed and sold-out engagements on the West Coast, the musical MEMPHIS made its Broadway debut October 19, 2009, earning accolades for its score, which features music by Bon Jovi’s founding member/keyboardist David Bryan and lyrics by Bryan and Joe DiPietro (I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change).

George (producer of the Tony®-nominated Bedroom Farce and the film My Dinner With Andre), with direction by Tony nominee Christopher Ashley (Xanadu), and choreography by Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys).

MEMPHIS takes place in the smoky halls and underground clubs of the segregated 50s, a young white DJ named Huey Calhoun (Chad Kimball) falls in love with everything he shouldn’t: rock ’n’ roll and an electrifying black singer named Felicia (Montego Glover). RHINO KICKS SOME PAST WITH HOT TUB TIME MACHINE

Time-Travel Comedy’s Soundtrack Spotlights The ’80s With Classic Tracks
And Overlooked Gems From The Era

Film Star Craig Robinson Adds Covers of “Jessie’s Girl” And “Let’s Get It Started”

Available March 23 From Rhino

LOS ANGELES – Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures and United Artists present Hot Tub Time Machine, a madcap time-travel comedy starring John Cusack, Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson, Clark Duke, Crispin Glover, Lizzy Caplan, and Chevy Chase. Due in theaters nationwide March 26, the film is directed by Steve Pink with screenplay by Josh Heald and Sean Anders & John Morris and story by Josh Heald.

Days before its theatrical debut, Rhino will release the film’s awesomely ’80s-centric soundtrack. HOT TUB TIME MACHINE: ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK will be available March 23 at all retail outlets, including www.rhino.com, for a suggested list price of $13.98 (CD) and $9.99 (digital).

The film’s soundtrack presents a sonic snapshot of the mid-’80s, featuring the epic power ballad “Home Sweet Home” from Mötley Crüe’s third album, the quadruple platinum Theatre of Pain. Along with glam-metal, the soundtrack’s selections survey the era’s various styles, including alternative rock from The Replacements (“I Will Dare”), New Order (“Bizarre Love Triangle”), and Echo And The Bunnymen (“Bring On The Dancing Horses”); early rap by Salt ’N Pepa (“Push It”); and new wave by Men Without Hats (“The Safety Dance”) and Scritti Politti (“Perfect Way”). The set also includes a newly recorded version of Public Enemy’s “Louder Than A Bomb,” which was originally released on their classic 1988 album It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back.

In addition to classic ’80s tracks by David Bowie, INXS, Talking Heads, The English Beat, and Spandau Ballet, HOT TUB TIME MACHINE: ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK also features two songs by actor Craig Robinson, who delivers unforgettable covers of Rick Springfield’s “Jessie’s Girl” and The Black Eyed Peas’ “Let’s Get It Started,” which are both featured in the film as well.

Hot Tub Time Machine follows a group of best friends who’ve become bored with their adult lives: Adam (John Cusack) has been dumped by his girlfriend; Lou (Rob Corddry) is a party guy who can’t find the party; Nick’s (Craig Robinson) wife controls his every move; and
video game-obsessed Jacob (Clark Duke) won’t leave his basement. After a crazy night of drinking in a ski resort hot tub, the men wake up, heads pounding, in the year 1986. This is their chance to kick some past and change their futures—one will find a new love life, one will learn to stand up for himself with the ladies, one will find his mojo, and one will make sure he still exists.
