REPRISE COMMEMORATES THE RAT PACK

The Very Best Of The Rat Pack Spotlights Vegas-Era Hits By
Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, And Sammy Davis Jr.

Available January 25

LOS ANGELES, CA (December 6, 2010) – Iconic entertainers Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr.—the Rat Pack, a sheer force of nature on stage and film that defined suave masculine brio in the early 1960s. To commemorate this legendary act, Reprise Records will release an essential collection: The Very Best Of The Rat Pack (Reprise) on January 25, available at all retail outlets (CD and digital), including www.sinatra.com.
Featuring 18 Vegas-era favorites that spotlight each singer, The Very Best Of The Rat Pack captures the upbeat entertainment style synonymous with the trio. Showcasing swinging studio classics from each member solo along with two duets that feature Sinatra and Davis (“Me And My Shadow”) and Davis and Martin (“Sam’s Song”). The collection also includes a previously unreleased alternate version of Sinatra’s “I’m Gonna Live Until I Die.”

Ol’ Blues Eyes opens the album with the signature track “Come Fly With Me” and also contributes his irresistible hits “I Get A Kick Out Of You” and “Witchcraft.” The collection also includes “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” ranked among Sinatra aficionados as one of his finest collaborations with Nelson Riddle, and “Luck Be A Lady,” a song featured in the musical “Guys And Dolls.”

Dino’s velvety croon takes the spotlight on six unforgettable performances that include “Volare (Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu),” the dramatic Italian ballad “Who’s Got The Action?” from the 1962 film of the same name starring Martin and Lana Turner, and “Ain’t That A Kick In The Head,” a tune he sang in the Rat Pack’s classic 1960 heist film Ocean’s 11.

Davis’ ebullient delivery and vocal power shine on standout tracks such as “Eee-O Eleven” from the Ocean’s 11 soundtrack, “A Lot Of Livin’ To Do,” a song originally written for the 1960 musical Bye Bye Birdie, and “Too Close For Comfort,” from the 1956 Broadway play Mr. Wonderful in which Davis played the starring role.

LOS ANGELES — The second coming of Black Sabbath began in 1979 when founding members Tony Iommi, Terry “Geezer” Butler, and Bill Ward were joined by Ronnie James Dio, who added his fiery and powerful voice to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group’s crushing mix of iconic riffs, gloomy grooves and doom-soaked imagery. The Dio-fronted line-up would release two iconic metal albums in consecutive years—1980’s Heaven And Hell and 1981’s Mob Rules (with Vinny Appice on drums)—before arriving at London’s Hammersmith Odeon in January of 1982 for one of their most legendary shows.

Rhino Handmade Presents The First Comprehensive Collection Of Sledge’s
Atlantic Recordings On Four Discs Spanning 1966-74 With Over 100 Songs
Spotlighting Studio And Live Recordings, Rare And Unreleased Tracks

Rhino.com Pre-Order Begins November 26, Ships December 14

LOS ANGELES – The aching sincerity in Percy Sledge’s voice on the #1 smash “When A Man Loves A Woman” made him an instant star in 1966. The singer spent the next eight years with Atlantic Records, refining his mix of country and soul in studios around Muscle Shoals, Alabama, not far from where Sledge was born in 1940.

A day after Sledge’s 70th birthday, Rhino Handmade will exclusively unveil the first comprehensive collection of the singer’s recordings for Atlantic. This four-disc set spans 1966-74 with 104 songs, including both studio and live recordings as well as several rare and unreleased tracks.

Shipping on December 14 from Rhino Handmade, the set is presented in a clothbound hardcover book filled with rare photos and a new essay by Barney Hoskyns. PERCY SLEDGE: THE ATLANTIC RECORDINGS is available for pre-order on November 26 exclusively at www.rhino.com for a suggested list price of $79.98.

The music, arranged mostly in chronological order, offers a richly detailed portrait of the King of Country Soul’s career following the massive success of “When A Man Loves A Woman.” In fact, the song is featured twice, opening the collection with the well-known studio version and closing it with an alternate take recorded during the same session.

The first three discs capture Sledge’s meteoric rise, drawing from his singles and four studio albums—When A Man Loves A Woman, Warm And Tender Soul (1966), The Percy Sledge Way (1967), and Take Time To Know Her (1968)—which feature stellar playing by some of Muscle Shoals’ most talented studio aces.

Among the tracks featured are the singer’s Top Ten R&B hits: “It Tears Me Up,” “Warm And Tender Love,” and “It’s All Wrong But It’s Alright”; plus standouts: “Out Of Left Field,” “Cover Me,” “Take Time To Know Her,” “Sudden Stop,” “You’re All Around Me,” and “True Love Travels On A Gravel Road.”

The collection gathers a number of rare recordings as well, including several songs released exclusively overseas on albums like Wanted (1969, South Africa), My Special Prayer (1970, Netherlands), The Golden Voice Of Soul (1974, Germany), and a Christmas single from 1969 that was released only in the Netherlands and featured “Silent Night” b/w “Christmas Wish.”

For the set, Rhino Handmade uncovers five unreleased songs, including “Time,” “What I Don’t Know Won’t Hurt Me,” “Same Old Loverman,” “You Can Always Get It Where You Got It,” and the Dan Penn and Bobby Emmons song “Love Is A Job.”

The collection wraps up with five performances recorded live in 1970 when Sledge traveled to South Africa, where he played to hysterical sold-out crowds for 17 straight weeks. Recorded at Johannesburg’s Empire Theatre, the performances featured here are: “Cover Me,” “Knock On Wood,” “Any Day Now,” “Come Softly To Me,” and “Heart Of A Child.”

Rhino Handmade Celebrates Ride’s Acclaimed First Album With A Two-Disc
20th Anniversary Edition That Includes The U.S. Version Of The Album And The Today Forever EP, Plus Unreleased Live Show From The Band’s First American Tour

Rhino.com Exclusive Pre-Order Begins November 29, Available December 21

LOS ANGELES – Oxfordshire quartet Ride quickly rose to prominence in 1989, driven by the chart success of its first three EPs, the intensity of its live shows, and a hypnotic and moody sound that presaged alt-rock’s ascendance. In October 1990, the band released its first full album Nowhere, a tour de force of intertwining guitars, intimate but otherworldly vocals, and open-ended lyrics. Two decades later, the album still resonates and remains one of the era’s high-water marks.

Rhino Handmade celebrates the album’s debut with a two-disc set that includes the newly remastered U.S. version of Nowhere, the EP Today Forever, and an unreleased live show. Adorned with a lenticular version of the album cover, the set’s 5" x 5" hardback book-style package includes a 40-page booklet with rare photos and an essay by author Jim DeRogatis. Shipping December 21, NOWHERE: 20TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION will be available for pre-order on November 29 exclusively at www.rhino.com for $39.98.

Together Andy Bell, Mark Gardener (guitar/vocals), Steve Queralt (bass), and Laurence “Loz” Colbert (drums) created a mysterious sound that was both dense and dynamic as evidenced by tracks like “Taste,” “Seagull,” and the title track. And yet, at the center of this sonic swirl were memorable hooks and tightly written songs like “Kaleidoscope,” “Vapour Trail,” and “Dreams Burn Down.”

For this anniversary edition, Rhino Handmade bolsters the 11 tracks found on the U.S. version of Nowhere with four songs from the EP Today Forever, which was released in March 1991 by Creation Records, the band’s U.K. label. Short but essential, the tracks include “Unfamiliar,” “Sennen,” “Beneath,” and one of the band’s best, “Today.”

The second disc reveals another of the band’s facets with an hour of live music recorded April 10, 1991, at the Roxy in Los Angeles during the group’s first American tour. The previously unreleased 12-song set draws mostly from Nowhere, but does touch on Ride’s self-titled EP from 1990 (“Chelsea Girl” and “Drive Blind”) and the band’s follow-up EP later that year Play (“Perfect Time” and “Like A Daydream”). The live tracks are all newly mixed with supervision by Alan Moulder.

In addition to the Rhino Handmade release, the remastered version of NOWHERE will also be released on 180-gram vinyl on the same date for a suggested price of $17.98. This vinyl version mirrors the original 8 song U.K. release and marks the first time the album has ever been released on vinyl in the States.
