PETROL ELECTRIC AND RHINO ENTERTAINMENT PARTNER TO RELEASE
FIRST INXS ALBUM OF NEWLY RECORDED MATERIAL ON
ATCO RECORDS IN OVER 25 YEARS

Los Angeles, CA – The new album from INXS titled Original Sin is available now exclusively at Amazon.com and will be available at retailers everywhere on May 3, 2011. The first musical project between INXS and original manager CM Murphy in over a decade, the band has recorded several of their signature hits re-imagined by some of the world’s finest musicians including Ben Harper, Rob Thomas, Tricky, Nikka Costa and more. A partnership between Murphy’s own Petrol Electric label and Rhino Entertainment, Original Sin marks the first INXS album release on the revived Atco Records imprint, INXS’s original label home, since the band’s 1984 platinum selling album The Swing.

"We're thrilled to welcome INXS back to Atco. This album will reunite the band and their great music with their significant fanbase, and by way of some very special guests, to a new audience," said Kevin Gore, President & CEO of Rhino Entertainment.

An ambitious project two years in the making, Original Sin teams the band with musicians from around the globe, from superstars like Ben Harper, Train’s Pat Monahan, Rob Thomas, and Nikka Costa to up and comer DJ Yaleidys of Cuba, to reinterpret and revitalize their own classics for a whole new generation. An eclectic mix of music including Thomas and Yaleidys’ sultry take on “Original Sin” and trip-hop superstar Tricky’s electrifying version of “Mediate” to Pat Monahans' emotional “Beautiful Girl” and French pop artist Loane’s take on “Mystify” with John Mayer & Kirk Pengilly on guitar, INXS boldly embrace their past and future on one album.

Original Sin, the first new musical project between INXS and CM Murphy in over 15 years, is not just typical re-recordings of the band’s original songs. INXS along with artists from all over the world are paying tribute to the songs themselves and to the songwriters Andrew Farriss and Michael Hutchence. "INXS's material, specifically INXS's songs, set the table for singers,” said Ben Harper. “In my opinion, they're any singer's dream songs to sing. Covering, ‘Never Tear Us Apart’ is like covering ‘Dock Of The Bay.’ I'm not here to make grandiose overstatements; it's just a fact, that is one of the greatest soul songs ever written."

To have so many of their peers want to perform INXS songs is a testament to the songwriting and something that INXS keyboardist/guitarist and main songwriter Andrew Farriss is immensely proud of. “I'm truly flattered that we have so many artists interested in working with us reimaging these songs. In a sense, it's been re-energizing for us to look at ourselves differently in the context of being in 2010 rather than, you know, 30 years ago. I feel we’re very much doing something that's now and significant.” Agreed lead guitarist Tim Farriss, “Original Sin is just, for me, so exciting. I know certain people might sort of perceive it as why aren't you doing new material, but the fact of the matter is we're getting to play some of our favorite songs from our history and play them the way we want them to be heard today.”

For drummer Jon Farriss, it’s all about the music. “We wanted to celebrate the songs, they’re such great songs,” he says. “I think initially there was a mixed bag of emotions and feelings, which was probably a good thing because we realized how much the songs meant to us. But at the end of the day we started to realize that this is actually cathartic for us and it might be for everyone else as well.”

“This is the most beautiful and heart wrenching musical project I have ever had the pleasure to be involved in,” said CM Murphy, INXS creative director and global business strategist. “Every track is played with emotion and conviction by the wonderful musicians within INXS. Every artist who performed on this album did so with heartfelt connection to the songs and to Michael's original vocals as well as his soul and his love for music. I had the pleasure of working with Michael for 15 dynamic years and I know for a fact he would love every performer on this album. This is a very special album.”

One of the most notable and successful rock bands of all time, INXS has sold over 35 million albums worldwide with the group’s music remaining in constant radio rotation and in DJ sets nightly across the globe. To this day, the group’s multi-platinum landmark albums Listen Like Thieves, Kick, and X are all widely regarded as music collection staples. Huge chart-topping hit singles including “What You Need,” “Need You Tonight,” “Devil Inside,” “Never Tear Us Apart,” “New Sensation” and “Suicide Blonde” have been featured in numerous films, advertising campaigns and video games, earning the band countless accolades and awards around the world, including several Grammy nominations, and is the driving force behind selling over 15 million albums in the U.S. alone. With a career spanning three decades, first as the Farriss Brothers, then as INXS, brothers Tim, Jon, and Andrew Farriss, along with Kirk Pengilly and Garry Gary Beers have created some of the most enduring music in rock.

CHICAGO REVISITS “OLD DAYS” WITH LIVE IN ’75

Rhino Handmade’s Two-Disc Set Captures Dynamic Previously Unreleased Performances Recorded Live At The Capital Centre In Maryland

Pre-order Now Exclusively At Rhino.com, Ships May 24

LOS ANGELES – After releasing its eighth consecutive gold album in just six years, Chicago embarked upon a massive stadium tour in 1975 that’s considered to be one of its finest. The shows found the group at the pinnacle of its prowess, combining the jaw-dropping musicality and contagious onstage energy that made Chicago one of the most successful acts in American pop history.

Rhino Handmade provides a snapshot from this extraordinary tour for the ages with a two-disc set that contains two hours of previously unreleased performances recorded June 24-26 at the Capital Centre in Largo, Maryland. The collection is presented in a hardbound slipcase accompanied by a foldout poster that features rare photos from the tour, LIVE IN ’75 is now available for pre-order exclusively at www.rhino.com for $39.98 and will be shipping on May 24.

LIVE IN ’75 includes selections from all of the group’s albums through its then-current Chicago VIII. The set flows like a greatest hits collection that spans nearly every smash – from Robert Lamm’s smooth baritone on “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?” to the Lee Loughnane-penned hit “Call On Me” – but leaves room for beloved album tracks like the latin-flavored “Mongonucleosis.” The set also includes a complete performance of the crowd-pleasing “Ballet For A Girl In Buchannon” suite that James Pankow composed for the Chicago II album.

The band came out rocking, opening with “Introduction” from the ensemble’s stunning 1969 debut Chicago Transit Authority before shifting to “Anyway You Want” from its most recent LP. The combination neatly distilled Chicago’s past and present into a powerful one-two punch that established an intensity that did not let up through the entire show.

LIVE IN ’75 includes Chicago’s distinctive take on a pair of cover tunes. The first, “I’m A Man,” finds the band making The Spencer Davis Group classic their own, led by a rousing guitar performance from Terry Kath. The second, the Beatles’ “Got To Get You Into My Life,” was significant because it was the song that originally seeded Walter Parazaider’s imagination with the notion of a new kind of rock ’n’ roll band with horns.

RAISING THE “BARN” WITH THE BEAU BRUMMELS

Rhino Handmade Presents Seminal Country-Rock Gem As Remastered Two-Disc Set
Including Rare And Unreleased Recordings And Vintage Radio Interview

Pre-order Exclusively At Rhino.com Now, Available July 26

LOS ANGELES – After releasing the baroque-pop classic Triangle in 1967, The Beau Brummels shifted gears radically the following year when singer Sal Valentino, guitarist Ron Elliott, and producer Lenny Waronker traveled to Nashville to explore the crossroads of country and rock. Working with some of Music City’s hottest session players, the West Coast group recorded BRADLEY’S BARN, an album whose fusion of styles earned critical acclaim but was too far ahead of the curve to enjoy commercial success.

Rhino Handmade rediscovers this unheralded gem of early country-rock and gives it its due as a two-disc set that comes in a hardbound booklet with rare photos and lengthy sleeve notes by Alec Palao that feature commentary from Valentino, Elliott, Waronker, and lyricist Bob Durand. The collection includes the original Warner Bros. album remastered by Dan Hersch and Andrew Sandoval, 25 rare and unreleased tracks, and a 1968 radio interview with Valentino and Elliott. BRADLEY’S BARN is available for pre-order now exclusively at www.rhino.com for $39.98 and will be released on July 26.

Unlike the stripped down approach The Byrds employed on Sweetheart Of The Rodeo (which was recorded around the same time), Waronker summoned a multilayered “guitar orchestra” for BRADLEY’S BARN, using it to explore Elliott’s complex melodies, and create clean but intricate arrangements to showcase Valentino’s velveteen voice. The band heard on most of BRADLEY’S BARN features Elliott, Valentino, keyboardist David Briggs, and bassist Norbert Putnam, plus guitarist Jerry Reed and drummer Kenny Buttrey, both of whom played with Bob Dylan during his Nashville years.

The first disc contains the newly remastered original album supplemented by several bonus tracks, including three previously unreleased songs: the alternate version of “I Love You Mama”; the 1967 demo for “Just A Little Bit Of Lovin’” recorded in Hollywood; and the stereo mix of the demo for “Black Crow.”

Even more unissued recordings are revealed on the second disc, which features alternate takes of “I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight” and “Lift Me”; an alternate mix of “Love Can Fall A Long Way Down”; an alternate demo of “Another”; the demo for “Confessions”; and a cover of the classic country weeper “Long Black Veil.” The disc also contains several of Valentino’s post-Brummels solo recordings including several singles from the era making their debut on CD as well as three more unreleased songs: an alternate version of “An Added Attraction (Come And See Me)” and the Johnny Cash covers “A Little At A Time” and “Home Of The Blues.”

Along with the trove of unreleased material, BRADLEY’S BARN also contains seven outtakes from the album’s sessions that were originally compiled by Rhino Handmade on Magic Hollow, the now sold-out retrospective spanning The Beau Brummels’ entire career released in 2005.

Valentino and Elliott get the last word, literally, on BRADLEY’S BARN, which concludes with an interview of the two that was originally broadcast on San Francisco’s KMPX-FM in October 1968. The conversation, which occurred around the time of the album’s issue, has never been released.
