Black Celebration | The 12" Singles Includes "A Question Of Lust" Cassette Release Pressed On 12" Vinyl For The First Time

LOS ANGELES - Depeche Mode 12" vinyl singles project continues with the release of BLACK CELEBRATION | THE 12" SINGLES and MUSIC FOR THE MASSES | THE 12" SINGLES on May 31 from Rhino.

Each of these definitive boxed sets contains 12" vinyl singles contemporaneous to either Black Celebration (1986) or Music For The Masses (1987). Both pivotal releases in Depeche Mode's career, these albums advanced the band's musical mission, moving the Depeche Mode sound from industrial pop into darker atmospheric emotional territory.

Following its release in 1986, Black Celebration became the group's then-highest charting album in both the UK and Germany, expanding their influence across pop culture while inspiring myriad young musicians to start bands of their own.

The next year, Music For The Masses furthered Depeche Mode's international mass appeal, breaking open the United States and other markets with the record-setting Music For The Masses Tour. An electrifying and historic adventure for band and audiences worldwide, the tour included Depeche Mode concerts in then-communist East Berlin, Budapest, and Prague. The tour's 101st show, a transcendent performance at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, was attended by more than 60,000 fans and documented in 101, a concert film by D.A. Pennebaker (Don't Look Back) and an accompanying live album.

From their earliest days as a band, Depeche Mode championed 12" vinyl, embracing the singular power of the format and the avenues of innovation it opened. The 12" single allowed the band to explore new sonic possibilities while the tactile physical beauty of the packaging gave Depeche Mode room to develop a sophisticated and commanding visual aesthetic. Depeche Mode used their singles discography as a means of offering left field remixes and other delights for their fans.

Both BLACK CELEBRATION | THE 12" SINGLES and MUSIC FOR THE MASSES | THE 12" SINGLES extended Depeche Mode's increasingly mind-blowing run of 12" singles and featured some of the band's most sublime artwork to date.  Each of the albums showcased some of the most enduring singles in the Depeche Mode catalog; Black Celebration featured "A Question Of Lust" and "Stripped" while Music For The Masses contained "Never Let Me Down Again" and "Strangelove" (Depeche Mode's first #1 US Dance chart hit).

BLACK CELEBRATION | THE 12" SINGLES contains the four original 12" releases from the album plus a 12" vinyl version of the limited edition "A Question Of Lust" cassette release, available for the first time internationally in this collection. This set is available for a suggested retail price of $89.98.

MUSIC FOR THE MASSES | THE 12" SINGLES includes the seven original and special edition 12" vinyl singles from the album and is available on the same day for a suggested retail price of $129.98.

Rhino Entertainment released the first two boxed sets in the series, Speak & Spell | The Singles and A Broken Frame | The Singles, on August 31, 2018.  The second batch - Construction Time Again | The 12" Singles and Some Great Reward | The 12" Singles - arrived on December 14, 2018.

Each boxed set in the series contains the singles from each Depeche Mode album on audiophile-quality 12" vinyl, with audio mastered from the original tapes. The artwork for the exterior of each of the boxed sets draws on iconography inspired by the original releases, while the vinyl sleeves themselves feature the original single artwork.

The DEPECHE MODE 12" SINGLES SERIES will continue over the coming years, with plans to release boxes containing the singles from each of the band's albums in similar deluxe audiophile-grade collector's editions.

In 2018, Depeche Mode completed their Global Spirit Tour, a worldwide concert itinerary that launched in May 2017 and peaked summer 2018 with a pair of shows at the Waldbühne in Berlin on July 23 and 25. The 15-month Global Spirit Tour saw the band play to more than three million fans across Europe, North America, and South America.

DIAMOND DOGS 45th ANNIVERSARY RED VINYL
"BRICK AND MORTAR" RETAIL EXCLUSIVE

"REBEL REBEL" (ORIGINAL SINGLE MIX) DIGITAL SINGLE

BOTH SET FOR RELEASE ON PARLOPHONE ON MAY 24

On May 24, 2019, 45 years to the day since the album's original release date, Parlophone will issue a strictly limited one run only red vinyl edition of DIAMOND DOGS featuring the 2016 remaster. This will only be available to "brick and mortar" retail stores.

The past two years have seen gold vinyl versions of Hunky Dory and The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars and a silver vinyl release of Aladdin Sane released 45 years to the day of their first issue.

To help celebrate the 45th anniversary of DIAMOND DOGS, there will also be a special one track digital single of the original single mix of "Rebel Rebel."

Preceding the album by more than three months, "Rebel Rebel" peaked at number five on the official U.K. singles chart. The original single mix was substituted by the shorter, "phased" New York Remix single version in North America, featuring a new arrangement and overdubbed vocals. The album originally peaked at number one on the official albums chart in the U.K. and number five on the Billboard album chart in the U.S.

On the 2016 boxed set Who Can I Be Now?, the original single mix of "Rebel Rebel" was taken from a pristine copy of a 45rpm single from the time. The original tape, which had been missing since the mid-1970s, has now been discovered and remastered for this special one track digital single.

GRATEFUL DEAD AOXOMOXOA

50TH ANNIVERSARY DELUXE EDITION

Two-CD Edition And Limited Edition Vinyl Picture Disc Of

Grateful Dead's Third Studio Album Will Be Available On June 7

LOS ANGELES - Grateful Dead will continue their ambitious reissue series to commemorate the 50-year anniversary for each of their albums with Aoxomoxoa this June. Like all the albums in this ongoing series, Aoxomoxoa will be released approximately 50 years after its anniversary date as a two-disc deluxe edition that includes the original album with newly remastered sound, plus a bonus disc of unreleased live recordings. The album will also be released as a 12-inch picture disc produced in a limited edition of 10,000 copies. Both versions will be available on June 7, just weeks before the album's 50 year anniversary on June 20.

AOXOMOXOA: 50th ANNIVERSARY DELUXE EDITION will be available for $24.98 and includes two versions of the album - one fully remastered from the original 1969 recording, and the other remastered from the definitive 1971 band-produced mix. This is the first time both mixes have been presented together in a single release. Also included is a bonus disc with previously unreleased live music recorded January 24-26, 1969 at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA. Newly remastered by Jeffrey Norman, these shows were among the first live performances ever to be recorded to 16-track tape.

AOXOMOXOA: 50th ANNIVERSARY VINYL PICTURE DISC will also be available on June 7 for $21.98 and will feature the remastered mix of the album from 1971.

Grateful Dead audiovisual archivist Dave Lemieux says: "In 1969, for their third album, the Grateful Dead eschewed outside producers and created Aoxomoxoa themselves, beginning a run of self-produced albums that would continue until 1977. Scrapping the first sessions, which were recorded to eight-track tape, the Dead now had 16 tracks with which to experiment their psychedelic sound, with an album that included entirely Robert Hunter-penned lyrics for the first time."

An enigmatic classic, Aoxomoxoa is messy and murky, mysterious and majestic - a perfect time capsule that is still stubbornly resplendent a half century after it first appeared. The album introduced favorites like "St. Stephen" and "Mountains On The Moon," as well as "China Cat Sunflower" - a song that would continue to remain in the band's repertoire.

The deluxe edition's bonus disc features unreleased live performances captured over several nights in January 1969 at the Avalon Ballroom. Recorded several months before the release of Aoxomoxoa, the live tracks include early versions of two tracks from the album - "Dupree's Diamond Blues" and "Doin' That Rag." The disc also includes the final live performance of "Clementine," a song the band began performing in 1968 but was never released on a studio album. The band also played several songs from its second album, Anthem of the Sun (1968). Highlights include a dynamic romp through "New Potato Caboose" and an electrifying "Alligator>Caution" jam that captures Pigpen at his primal best.

When these shows were recorded, the band members were: Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Ron "Pigpen" McKernan, Phil Lesh, Tom Constanten, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann.

Los Angeles, CA - After the band's self-titled debut album had spent a year in the US Top 20, rock's conquering heroes played a sold-out show at London's celebrated Rainbow Theatre on April 27, 1978. Opening with "Long, Long Way From Home," fans were treated to a magnificent display of musicianship and performance, including hit singles "Feels Like The First Time" and "Cold As Ice," as well as an exclusive preview of two tracks from the upcoming Double Vision album, "Hot Blooded" and "Double Vision."

Today, Rhino releases the digital audio version of the concert film, FOREIGNER LIVE AT THE RAINBOW '78, which will be available to download and stream on all digital service platforms by going here. The film is also now available on DVD, Blu-ray, and digital video from Eagle Vision that can be found here.

Featuring the classic Foreigner lineup of Mick Jones (lead guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), Lou Gramm (lead vocals, percussion), Ian McDonald (guitars, keyboards, sax, flute, backing vocals), Al Greenwood (keyboards, synthesizer), Ed Gagliardi (bass, backing vocals) and Dennis Elliott (drums, backing vocals), this show captures the essence of a group who would go on to become one of the world's best-selling bands of all time.

Forty years later, this definitive performance by the original band has been restored from the original film reels, remixed and remastered for this release.

"1978 was an absolutely magical time for the band," remembers Mick Jones, "and to come back over to the UK to play a headline show at the legendary Rainbow really was a dream come true. The audience was amazing that night. We couldn't have wished for a better show."

As Foreigner's music continues to resonate with fans old and new, the band celebrated their 40th anniversary playing amphitheaters and arenas throughout 2018.
