LOS ANGELES - REO Speedwagon will crank up the holiday spirit this year with the definitive version of its yuletide classic, Not So Silent Night: Christmas with REO Speedwagon. It features remastered sound, four bonus tracks and a newly recorded version of the group's original Christmas song, "I Believe In Santa Claus."

NOT SO SILENT NIGHT: CHRISTMAS WITH REO SPEEDWAGON will be available on digital formats today (October 20), CD (November 3), and on LP (December 1).

The collection spotlights the group's distinctive versions of Christmas favorites like "Silent Night," "Little Drummer Boy," "Deck The Halls" and "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)." It also features several songs that did not appear on the original 2009 release, including "We Three Kings," which is now available on CD and digital versions.

The CD and digital versions also include three songs released as bonus tracks on the 2010 version of the album: "Sleigh Ride," "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" and "I Believe In Santa Claus," which was written by the band's frontman Kevin Cronin and bassist Bruce Hall. The group recently returned to the studio to record a new version of "I Believe In Santa Claus." This new 2017 version is available as part of the digital version of album, and is also available as a free download with the purchase of CD or LPs formats.

Cronin says: "Our goal with this new version of 'the Santa song' was to create a true REO Speedwagon track, which also happens to be a Christmas carol, and a holiday love letter to our families, and yours."

Formed in 1967, signed in 1971, and fronted by Cronin since 1972, REO Speedwagon's unrelenting drive, as well as non-stop touring and recording jump-started the burgeoning rock movement in the Midwest. Platinum albums and radio staples soon followed, setting the stage for the release of the band's explosive Hi Infidelity in 1980, which contained the massive hit singles "Keep On Loving You," and "Take It On the Run." That landmark album spent 15 weeks in the No. 1 slot and has since earned the RIAA's coveted 10X Diamond Award for surpassing sales of 10 million units in the United States. Today, REO Speedwagon has sold 40 million albums around the globe, and Cronin and bandmates Hall, Neal Doughty (keyboards), Dave Amato (guitar), and Bryan Hitt (drums) are still electrifying audiences worldwide in concert.

Whitesnake’s New Live Collection Highlights Singer David Coverdale’s Time In
Deep Purple With Performances Of Deep Purple And Whitesnake Classics

LOS ANGELES – Whitesnake revisited the music that singer David Coverdale recorded with Deep Purple in the Seventies when it released The Purple Album two years ago. The album, and the tour that followed, offered fans modern interpretations of Purple classics like “Burn” and “Mistreated.” This fall, highlights from the tour will be featured in a new live collection, including double-disc versions that feature audio, video and a selection of bonus material.

THE PURPLE TOUR (LIVE) will be available on January 19 as CD/DVD ($24.98) or CD/Blu-ray ($26.98) sets. Additional formats include a double-LP ($29.98), single CD ($15.98), and digital version.

On THE PURPLE TOUR (LIVE), Whitesnake puts its distinctive spin on several songs from Coverdale’s studio albums with Deep Purple — Burn (1974), Stormbringer (1974), and Come Taste The Band (1975). Highlights include: “You Fool No One,” “The Gypsy” and “Soldier Of Fortune.” The double-disc collection also includes video footage of the concert and 5.1 Surround Sound audio, plus a new music video for “Burn,” band interviews, and a number of bonus performances not available on the CD or vinyl versions.

The Whitesnake line-up that appears on THE PURPLE TOUR (LIVE) includes: singer David Coverdale, guitarists Reb Beach and Joel Hoekstra, bassist Michael Devin, drummer Tommy Aldridge and keyboardist Michele Luppi.

Coverdale says there was never any intention to compete against the original recordings. “We just wanted to play the damn songs. Each member of the band brought their incredible individual talents and a real band identity to this music. We’ve all done the best we can with this project with respect to the music, and the legacy of Deep Purple Mk3 and Mk4.”

In addition to songs originally recorded by Deep Purple, THE PURPLE TOUR (LIVE) also features performances of killer Whitesnake tracks like “Fool For Your Loving” from Ready an’ Willing (1980), “Love Ain’t No Stranger” from Slide It In (1984), plus “Bad Boys,” “Is This Love” and the #1 smash “Here I Go Again” from Whitesnake (1987).

LOS ANGELES –Richard Hell and the Voidoids’ Blank Generation is an iconic album that has influenced countless rock bands with its image, its attitude, and its blistering performances. Released in 1977 on Sire Records, the album was received ecstatically by critics such as Lester Bangs and the New York Times’ Robert Palmer (who called it one of the ten best albums of the decade), but as was the case with most original “punk” albums, it wouldn’t get mainstream recognition for decades. Now its place in music history is secure as one of punk’s most significant records. Recently, Rolling Stone magazine lauded Blank Generation as one of the “40 Greatest Punk Albums of All Time,” giving the innovative and literate band its well deserved credit on the cusp of its 40th anniversary.

This seminal album is being recognized on its 40th anniversary this year with limited edition double-CD and double-LP deluxe editions to be released on Record Store Day’s Black Friday. BLANK GENERATION: 40th ANNIVERSARY DELUXE EDITION will be available at independent music retailers worldwide November 24 on CD for $19.98 and vinyl for $31.98.

Produced for release by Richard Hell, the album has been expertly remastered—by Greg Calbi of Sterling Sound, who mastered the original LP—as well as restored to its original 1977 track listing and sleeve imagery. BLANK GENERATION: 40th ANNIVERSARY DELUXE EDITION includes a second disc, with previously unreleased, alternate studio versions, out-of-print singles, and rare bootleg live tracks from the band’s first appearance in 1976 at CBGB. The booklet also contains many previously unpublished photos of the band by Roberta Bayley (the renowned CBGB photographer who shot the LP’s original cover), a revealing essay by Hell along with compelling images from his notebooks and private papers, and an extensive new interview with Ivan Julian by Hell.

After establishing his reputation as founder of legendary bands the Heartbreakers and Television, Hell went onto to lead the Voidoids which included Robert Quine (who later played in Lou Reed’s Blue Mask band, as well as for Tom Waits, John Zorn, and many others), Ivan Julian (who would record for Matthew Sweet and numerous other artists) and Marc Bell (“Marky Ramone”). Along with the Ramones, Television, Blondie and Talking Heads, Hell and his band helped to define the early New York “first wave” punk scene. The song “Blank Generation” became a slogan and an anthem and later was emulated by the Sex Pistols for their track, “Pretty Vacant.”

Such songs as “Love Comes In Spurts” and “Blank Generation” were originally recorded at Electric Lady Studios, but were re-recorded prior to release at Plaza Sound during Sire Records’ transition to Warner Bros. Records in 1977. At Plaza Hell reworked the album, leaving behind alternate versions and outtakes from Electric Lady that now appear on the second discs of these deluxe editions. The music sounds as fresh and abrasive today as when it was first released.

Hell retired from music in 1984, refocusing on writing as his vocation. He’s the author of two novels and several books of nonfiction including his acclaimed autobiography, I Dreamed I Was a Very Clean Tramp.
