Centennial, Colo. - June 6, 2013 – On a blistering summer day in 1972, the Grateful Dead took the stage on the grounds of the Oregon Country Fair in Veneta, Ore. for what would become one of the most legendary concerts of the band’s storied history. This summer, fans across the U.S. will finally get to see this, the most highly sought after Grateful Dead show captured on film, when NCM Fathom Events presents the previously unreleased concert “Sunshine Daydream” as part of “Grateful Dead Meet Up at the Movies 2013*.” Broadcast to select movie theaters nationwide on Thursday, Aug. 1 at 7:30 p.m. local time, “Sunshine Daydream” spotlights the band’s epic performance against a pastoral background in the Oregon countryside. Shot originally on 16mm film and painstakingly restored to HD resolution, this special event encapsulates the quintessential Dead Head experience.

Tickets for “Grateful Dead Meet Up at the Movies 2013”are available at participating theater box offices and online at www.FathomEvents.com. The event will be presented in nearly 450 select movie theaters around the country through NCM’s exclusive Digital Broadcast Network. Special features include never-before-seen footage of the concert day as well as recently recorded interviews with key participants such as Ken Babbs, Sam Cutler, Wavy Gravy and Carolyn "Mountain Girl" Garcia. The host of adventuresome characters provides insight on the sense of community that made possible a special day when the culture came together to help raise money to keep the local town’s Springfield Creamery afloat.

With appearances by key members of the Grateful Dead community, including masters of ceremony Ken Kesey and Babbs, and a cavalcade of cohorts and Merry Pranksters, “Sunshine Daydream” stands as the definitive document of the phenomena that changed the lives of millions forever, and proved to the world that there’s truly nothing like a Grateful Dead concert.

The playlist contains all new Stereo and 5.1 Audio mixes done by Jeffrey Norman at TRI Studios in San Rafael, Calif. and mastered by GrammyÒ winning engineer David Glasser at Air Show Mastering in Boulder, Colo., and will include the tracks: “Bird Song,” “China Cat Sunflower,” “Dark Star,” “Greatest Story Ever Told,” “Jack Straw,” “Playing In The Band,” “Promised Land,” “El Paso,” “Sing Me Back Home,” and “I Know You Rider.”

“Fathom heard the requests of Dead Heads everywhere, and with this third annual ‘Grateful Dead Meet Up at the Movies,’ we’re giving them the most sought-after experience of their favorite band,” said Dan Diamond, senior vice president of NCM Fathom Events. “For one night in movie theaters nationwide, the magic of ‘Sunshine Daydream’ will become a reality once again.”
