The Band Will Launch A Summer Tour The Same Day

LOS ANGELES - Third Eye Blind will celebrate the 20-year anniversary of its eponymous debut this summer with an expanded version of the multi-platinum album that includes several unreleased recordings. The band will also headline an extensive North American tour that begins on June 9 in Miami where the band will play the celebrated album in its entirety throughout the tour.

On the same day that the tour begins, Rhino will release multiple versions of THIRD EYE BLIND: 20TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION, including a double-CD set ($19.98), a three-LP collection presented in a gatefold sleeve ($44.98), and digitally.

All versions combine the original album with several unreleased demos and new recordings. For this special anniversary edition, the band recently recorded "Alright Caroline" and "Scattered," two songs that were written for the Third Eye Blind album, but were never fully realized in the studio until now.

3eb made a splash in 1997 when the San Francisco alt-rockers scored a #1 Modern Rock hit with the group's debut single, "Semi-Charmed Life." Later that year, it was named Modern Rock Track of the Year at the Billboard Music Awards.

Third Eye Blind spent more than 100 weeks on the Billboard 200 Chart and has been certified six-times platinum in the U.S. by the RIAA. In addition to "Semi-Charmed Life," the album boasted several more major hits: "Graduate," "How's It Going To Be," "Losing A Whole Year" and "Jumper."

THIRD EYE BLIND: 20TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION features unreleased demos for the album track "Semi-Charmed Life" and "Kiss Goodnight," which was later reworked as "Ode To Maybe" for the band's sophomore album, Blue (1999). Also included is the band's cover of the Velvet Underground classic "Heroin," as well as an early version of "Slow Motion" that includes the song's lyrics. The controversial track about the media's glorification of violence was released as an instrumental on Blue. A full version with lyrics did not surface until 2006, when it appeared on A Collection, a greatest hits compilation released by Rhino.

Long Strange Trip Coming To Theaters On May 26 And Amazon Prime Video On June 2

LOS ANGELES - Long Strange Trip, Amir Bar-Lev's critically acclaimed documentary about the Grateful Dead, will be released theatrically on May 26 in New York and Los Angeles, before coming exclusively to Amazon Prime Video on June 2. Rhino will celebrate the premiere by releasing the soundtrack to the documentary, a career-spanning collection of studio and live recordings that includes several unreleased performances.

Two versions of the LONG STRANGE TRIP MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK will be released on CD on May 26. The first is a 2-CD set for $19.98, which will also be available on digital and streaming services. The other is an expanded version that's available exclusively from Amazon as a 3-CD set ($29.98), digital download, and streaming. Later this summer, highlights from the 2-CD version will be released on vinyl as a 2-LP set and the full audio from the Amazon exclusive version will be available as a mammoth 6-LP collection, limited to 2,500 copies.

Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux and director Bar-Lev co-produced the soundtrack.

"All in all, this is unlike any other Grateful Dead release we've ever produced-just as the film is unlike any other Grateful Dead audiovisual document ever made. Then again, it's simply unlike any other music documentary ever made, which is appropriate considering that there's no band like the Grateful Dead," says Lemieux.

"This is music from the time before selfies, when things were more fun and commercial free," says Bar-Lev. "It's just right for these troubled times and I'm honored to be a tiny part of getting it out there."

"Long Strange Trip expertly captures the story of the Grateful Dead and at the center of it all is the true star of the film: the music," says producer Alex Blavatnik. "This soundtrack gives you a taste of everything that makes the band magical, from their uniquely crafted studio recordings to their unparalleled live performances."

The two-disc version of LONG STRANGE TRIP MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK spans the band's career and captures many of their greatest studio recordings alongside several of their most dynamic performances. Among the live highlights are "He's Gone," "St. Stephen" and the "Scarlet">"Fire" jam from the mythic 1977 Barton Hall concert, which will be released commercially for the first time just weeks prior on May 5. Along with classic studio tracks like "Ripple" and "Touch Of Grey," the soundtrack also features unreleased performances like the legendary "Dark Star" from February 14, 1970 at The Fillmore East in New York and the magnificent "Dear Mr. Fantasy">"Hey Jude" jam recorded on July 2, 1989 at Sullivan Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts.

The Amazon-exclusive version of LONG STRANGE TRIP MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK goes even deeper into the band's history with nine additional tracks. Much like The Dead's legendary second sets, the third disc is packed with jams, including an epic version (nearly 20-minutes) of "Eyes Of The World" recorded on August 6, 1974 at Roosevelt Stadium in New Jersey. Also included are two unreleased performances: "Stella Blue" from July 5, 1981 in Oklahoma City and "Days Between" from October 18, 1994 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Long Strange Trip is the first full-length documentary to explore the fiercely independent vision, perpetual innovation, and uncompromising commitment to their audience that made the Bay Area band one of the most influential musical groups of its generation. Artfully assembling candid interviews with the band, road crew, family members and notable Dead Heads, Bar-Lev reveals the untold history of the Dead and the freewheeling psychedelic subculture that sprouted up around it. The film also provides poignant insight into the psyche of late lead guitarist Jerry Garcia, whose disdain for authority clashed with his de facto leadership of the sprawling collective that kept the show on the road.

Following its theatrical release, Long Strange Trip will be available via Amazon Prime Video on June 2. The documentary was acquired by Amazon Studios ahead of its world premiere at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. The film is directed by Amir Bar-Lev, executive produced by Martin Scorsese and produced by Eric Eisner, Nick Koskoff, Justin Kreutzmann, Ken Dornstein, and Alex Blavatnik. Long Strange Trip is executive produced by Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Rick Yorn, Thomas J. Mangan IV, Alicia Sams, Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Andy Heller, and Sandy Heller. Long Strange Trip is co-executive produced by Trixie Garcia.

LOS ANGELES – Longtime members of Fleetwood Mac, Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie have joined together to record their first-ever album as a duo. Simply titled LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM/CHRISTINE McVIE, the 10-song album will be released by Atlantic Records this summer, followed by a run of special U.S. concerts. The first single “In My World” will be available this Friday, April 14, on all digital and streaming services.

The album will be available June 9 on CD, LP, and all digital and streaming services. The U.S. tour will begin on June 21.

The collaboration began three years ago, when McVie rejoined Fleetwood Mac for the group’s “On With The Show” tour.   The pair went in to record new material prior to rehearsals for the tour and their natural creative chemistry was reignited.  According to Buckingham, “We were exploring a creative process, and the identity of the project took on a life organically. The body of work felt like it was meant to be a duet album. We acknowledged that to each other on many occasions, and said to ourselves, ‘what took us so long?!!’”

Working their natural singer songwriter skills together came easily for the duo.  Said Christine McVie, “We’ve always written well together, Lindsey and I, and this has just spiraled into something really amazing that we’ve done between us.”

Sessions for the album took place at The Village Studios in Los Angeles, which is where Fleetwood Mac recorded several of their classic albums, including Tusk. Buckingham and McVie were joined in the studio by fellow bandmates Mick Fleetwood and John McVie, who supplied much of the dynamic rhythmic engine.

"It's a huge honour for East West and WMG to partner with two of the best artists in rock history who've written, recorded and performed some of the most popular and enduring music of all time. ‘Lindsey Buckingham/Christine McVie’ is a very special collaborative album that showcases both of their stunning talent,” said Dan Chalmers, President Rhino, East West & ADA UK. " We're very proud of our long and ongoing relationship with the band and confident that this record will be loved and enjoyed by Fleetwood Mac and music fans the world over."

JETHRO TULL – SONGS FROM THE WOOD

40th Anniversary Edition Featuring Mixes By Steven Wilson

3CD/2 DVD Set With Rare Live Records And Footage Available On May 19

Vinyl, Digital, And Standalone CD Versions Will Follow In July

LOS ANGELES - Jethro Tull’s tenth album was inspired by Ian Anderson’s departure to a more rural environment in a transition which bore clear influence on the writing and recording process, with the band notably doffing a cap to British folklore and countryside.

SONGS FROM THE WOOD: THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION will be available as a limited edition 3-CD/2-DVD set on May 19 for a suggested list price of $49.98.

Highlights from the set include:

  • Original album remixed in stereo by Steven Wilson on CD.
  • Unleased tracks and alternate versions on CD.
  • Unseen footage from the flat transfers of the original stereo masters on DVD.
  • DTS/DD 4.0 Surround flat transfers of the quadrophonic master on DVD.
  • An 80-page booklet featuring an extensive history of the project, a film script synopsis, track-by-track annotations by Ian Anderson, plus rare and unseen photographs.

Songs From The Wood is often referred to as one of the most commercially appealing Jethro Tull albums, containing elements of rock, prog and folk-rock. Although media reaction at the time divided opinion, the album has certainly developed a nostalgic rapport with fans through the years and it is perceived today as one of the band’s most popular albums.

Drummer Barrie Barlow comments that it sounds “Fresh, unique, great textures, interesting and dynamic!,” while guitarist Martin Barre remembers that, “It was a very tight band, one of the strongest line-ups Tull ever had… I think that Songs From The Wood and Heavy Horses [the follow up album] as a pair of albums are near the top of the tree.”

The first disc of the set contains the Steven Wilson remix of the original studio album, accompanied by associated recordings. This includes the tracks “Old Aces Die Hard” and “Working John, Working Joe,” which are being released here for the first time on any format. “Old Aces Die Hard,” a title Ian Anderson recently gave the track in a subtle nod to Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister, is, according to Ian “an extraordinary find, because it’s a long piece, and quite evolved, and one that sounds like it is pretty much complete – it doesn’t sound as if it was waiting for me or anyone else in the band to go back and redo vocals or guitars or whatever.”

Discs 2 and 3 form 22 live tracks recorded on the Songs From The Wood Tour across two dates:  Boston Garden, Boston, Massachusetts, USA on December 6, 1977 and Capital Centre, Landover, Maryland, USA on November 21, 1977. These tracks have been reconstructed as a complete set and then remixed to stereo by Jakko Jakszyk and are completely unheard.

DVD 1 contains 5.1 DTS, AC3 Dolby Digital Stereo Surround and 96/24 LPCM stereo versions of the original album mixed by Steven Wilson, along with selected associated tracks and various quad mixes and flat transfers.

The final disc in the package is the video footage taken live at the Capital Centre, Landover, Maryland on November 21 1977 mixed to 16/48 stereo LPCM and 5.1 DTS, AC3 Dolby Digital surround by Jakko Jakszyk. This footage has never been publicly seen before. The concert venue was the home for Washington Wizards basketball team, then known as Washington Bullets – so the video footage comes directly from the film that was played to the big screens in the venue during the show and has since been seen nowhere else.

Completing the set is a beautiful 96 page book which contains extensive writing on the history of the album and how it came to be. Martin Webb reflects on the writing, recording and touring of the album while Ian Anderson gives a track by track annotation of the album and associated recordings. Alongside lyrics, there’s an interview with assistant engineer Trevor White, relevant photos and imagery and a full recording and touring chronology.

FOREIGNER 40

Legendary Band Celebrates Milestone 40th Anniversary With Career-Spanning
Remastered Double-Disc Hits Collection Featuring Two Newly Recorded Tracks

40 Available On CD, Vinyl, And Digitally From Rhino This May/June

40th Anniversary Headline Tour Kicks Off July 11 In Syracuse, New York

LOS ANGELES – Foreigner will celebrate 40 years as one of rock’s most popular and enduring acts with a new career-spanning compilation titled 40 that features 40 hits from 40 years. This summer, the band will also launch an extensive 40th Anniversary U.S. tour with Cheap Trick and Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience. Tickets are available now at livenation.com.

Rhino will release 40 on May 19 as a double-CD set for $19.98 that includes 40 songs recorded between 1977 and 2017. A double-vinyl version that features 23 songs will be released on June 2 for 31.98.

Following its self-titled debut in 1977, Foreigner went on to record some of rock’s most enduring anthems — “Juke Box Hero” and “Hot Blooded” — as well as the #1 smash “I Want To Know What Love Is.” The group has 10 multi-platinum albums to its credit and is one of the best-selling bands of all time, with worldwide sales in excess of 75 million.

40 brings together the best songs from Foreigner’s nine studio albums, including all 16 of its Top 30 hits: “Feels Like The First Time,” “Cold As Ice,” “Waiting For A Girl Like You” and more. The collection features “Too Late” from the group’s 2008 retrospective No End In Sight and “The Flame Still Burns,” the title track from a vinyl EP released just last year, making its debut on CD in this collection. All prior recordings have been remastered and the album features two new tracks recorded especially for this release, “Give My Life For Love” and a new version of “I Don’t Want To Live Without You.”

The first disc covers Foreigner’s first five albums: Foreigner (1977), Double Vision (1978), Head Games (1979), 4 (1981) and Agent Provocateur (1984). The 21 tracks include some the group’s biggest hits (“Urgent” and “Feels Like The First Time”) as well as deeper cuts like “Luanne” and “Women.” The second disc features songs from Inside Information (1987), Unusual Heat (1991), Mr. Moonlight (1994) and Can’t Slow Down (2009), and features “Rain,” “When It Comes to Love” and “Heart Turns To Stone.”

FOREIGNER - Mick Jones (lead guitar), Kelly Hansen (lead vocals), Jeff Pilson (bass, vocals), Tom Gimbel (rhythm guitar, sax, vocals), Michael Bluestein (keyboards), Bruce Watson (guitar) and Chris Frazier (drums) – will hit the road this summer for their 40th Anniversary tour with  Cheap Trick and Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience. The tour kicks off on July 11 in Syracuse, New York.
