ZZ TOP ON WAX

Texas Trio’s Early Albums Will Be Pressed On 180-Gram Vinyl
For The New Boxed Set, Cinco: The First Five LPs

The 5-LP Collection Arrives June 9

LOS ANGELES – ZZ TOP will drop the needle into the groove for a new vinyl set that takes listeners on a rocking ride through the long running Texas trio’s early years. It includes the band’s first five albums pressed on heavyweight 180-gram vinyl, presented in a box made to look like the custom “Nudie Suits” worn by “That Little Ol’ Band From Texas” on stage… around the world.

CINCO: THE FIRST FIVE LPs will be available on June 9 from Warner Bros. Records for a suggested retail price of $114.98. During the weeks leading up to the set’s release, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers will be on tour in the U.S. and will follow-up in July in Europe.

Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill, and Frank Beard released five albums between 1971 and 1976, including ZZ Top’s First Album, Rio Grande Mud, Tres Hombres, Fandango! and Tejas.

CINCO begins with the band’s 1971 debut, ZZ Top’s First Album. Recorded at Robin Hood Studios in Tyler, Texas, the record helped establish the group’s signature blues-rock sound with tracks like “(Somebody Else Been) Shaking Your Tree,” and “Brown Sugar.”

The group returned to Tyler to record its follow-up, Rio Grande Mud, which was released in April 1972. Some fan favorites included here are “Just Got Paid” and “Bar-B-Q” as well as the lead single “Francine.”

ZZ TOP’s third album, Tres Hombres was the band’s commercial breakthrough. Released in the summer of 1973, it was the trio’s first Top 10 record and earned gold status thanks to hit “La Grange” and radio staples like “Jesus Just Left Chicago” and “Waitin’ For The Bus,” all of which still staples of the group’s tour set list to this day.

Released in 1975, Fandango! was the band’s second consecutive gold album and featured its first Top 40 single “Tush,” which was spontaneously written in just a few minutes during sound check at a dirt-floored rodeo arena in Florence, Alabama.  The album is a combination of the live tracks that comprise Side1, recorded at The Warehouse in New Orleans, and studio recordings on Side 2. The album also included standouts like “Mexican Blackbird” and “Heard It On The X,” the band’s tribute to mega-wattage radio stations just south of the border.

The final album included in CINCO is Tejas, which became ZZ TOP’s third gold album when it was released in 1976. It hit the Top 20 on the album chart on the strength of tracks like “It’s Only Love” and “Arrested For Driving While Blind.”

SEAN PAUL CELEBRATES HIS CAREER WITH
DUTTY CLASSICS COLLECTION

New Compilation Features 18 Tracks From The Grammy®-Winning
Jamaican Artist, Including The Smash Hits "Get Busy," "Gimme The Light,"
"Temperature," And "Baby Boy"

CD, Digital Download, And Streaming Versions Available On June 2

LOS ANGELES - Grammy-winning rapper Sean Paul selects some of his favorite tracks for a new compilation that highlights many of his biggest hits, including the #1 smashes "Get Busy," "Temperature" and "Baby Boy".

DUTTY CLASSICS COLLECTION will be available on June 2 from Rhino on CD ($14.98). The same day, the music will also be available as a digital download and on streaming services.

The 18 tracks follow Paul's career with music from all six of his studio albums: Stage One (2000), Dutty Rock (2002), The Trinity (2005), Imperial Blaze (2009), Tomahawk Technique (2012) and Full Frequency (2014).

Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Paul made his debut in 1998 with "Top Shotter" - his collaboration with DMX and Mr. Vegas. The song appeared on the soundtrack for the film Belly, in which Paul also made a brief cameo appearance. Naturally, the track is included on this new collection.

Two years after the film, Paul released his debut album Stage One. It introduced fans to his distinctive lyrical flow and irresistible dancehall rhythms on songs like "Deport Dem" and "Infiltrate." The album climbed to #2 on the Rap Charts, but it was his follow-up, Dutty Rock, that proved to be the artist's commercial breakthrough. A top 10 smash on U.S. album charts, it sold more than six million copies worldwide thanks to the success of the #1 hits "Get Busy" and "Baby Boy." In 2004, Paul was nominated for three Grammys: Best New Artist, Best Rap Solo Performance, and won for Best Reggae Album.

Paul released Trinity in 2005 and scored another #1 hit with "Temperature," a single that was certified double platinum. It's featured on this collection along with two other fan favorites from the album: "We Be Burnin'" and "Give It To Me."

Critical acclaim continued with Paul's next three releases - Imperial Blaze, Tomahawk Technique and Full Frequency - which were nominated for the Best Reggae Album Grammy in 2010, 2013 and 2015 respectively. Songs from those albums on DUTTY CLASSICS include "So Fine" and "She Doesn't Mind," as well as "Entertainment 2.0" which features guest artists Nicki Minaj, Juicy J, and 2 Chainz.

Originally released in the UK in June 1977, BE MY WIFE was the second and last single to be taken from the groundbreaking album Low, the first of the so-called "Berlin Trilogy" of albums. The video for the track, which was Bowie's first since 1973's "Life On Mars?," was directed by Stanley Dorfman, the original producer and director of the BBC's Top of The Pops.

The AA of the 7" picture disc is a previously unreleased live version of the instrumental Low track "Art Decade" recorded in Perth, Australia in 1978 during the Isolar II tour.

To celebrate the latest stop of the record-breaking "David Bowie Is" exhibition in Barcelona, a special limited edition red vinyl of I'M AFRAID OF AMERICANS will be making it's 7" debut.

The Trent Reznor remixed 'V1' version of the track is a double A-side with an acoustic version of "Heroes" live at The Bridge School benefit, which was only briefly available on the Bridge School compilation vinyl.

The artwork for the red vinyl 7" will feature two photographs of David against a wall by renowned Mexican photographer Fernando Aceves) who shot David on his visit to Mexico City during the Earthling tour in October 1997.

20 years on from their first release, both tracks and the sleeve imagery have a renewed resonance and currency in 2017.

This single will be exclusively available at the Barcelona leg of the David Bowie Is exhibition at Museu Del Disseny De Barcelona. https://davidbowieis.es

MARILLION'S MISPLACED CHILDHOOD
SET FOR DELUXE EDITION ON CD/BLU-RAY AND VINYL
ON JULY 21

British Neo-Prog Rockers' 1985 Breakthrough Concept Album Is Newly Remastered
And Expanded With Unreleased Live Recordings For Two New Boxed Sets

LOS ANGELES - Marillion helped revitalize progressive rock in 1985 when the band released its third studio album, Misplaced Childhood. The concept record became the British quintet's most commercially successful album, scoring Top Five hits with "Kayleigh" and "Lavender." Parlophone builds on the album's legacy with two new versions that boast remastered sound and unreleased recordings.

MISPLACED CHILDHOOD (DELUXE EDITION) will be released on July 21 as a 4CD/1Blu-Ray set ($59.98) and 4LP boxed set version ($79.98).

The CD/Blu-Ray set includes the original album newly remastered and a 5.1 surround remix by acclaimed producer Steven Wilson. It's accompanied by a previously unreleased concert from Holland that features a performance of Misplaced Childhood in its entirety, plus demos and rarities remastered exclusively for this set.

The Blu-Ray contains promo videos and an album documentary, as well as high resolution and 5.1 Surround Sound mixes of the album. The entire set is presented in a case-bound book that includes a 60-page booklet with liner notes written by rock writer Dave Everley.

The vinyl version of MISPLACED CHILDHOOD (DELUXE EDITION) features the newly remastered version of the original album and the entire concert from Holland. Pressed on 180-gram vinyl, the four LPs are presented in a 12" x 12" lift-top box with a beautiful 24-page booklet containing replica tour program and extensive writing on the history of the album and how it came to be.

Singer Derek Dick (aka Fish), guitarist Steve Rothery, keyboardist Mark Kelly, bassist Pete Trewavas and percussionist Ian Mosley recorded Misplaced Childhood at Hansa Tonstudio in Berlin, Germany during the spring of 1985. A concept record with two continuous pieces of music, the song cycle explored themes of lost love, lost childhood, and more. Released in June 1985, it was an immediate success, topping the U.K. album chart and earning platinum status. The album included three big hits: "Kayleigh" (#2), "Lavender" (#5), and "Heart Of Lothian" (#29.)

Discs two and three contain an October 1985 concert recorded live at the Muziekcentrum Vredenburg in the city of Utrecht. The performance includes the entire Misplaced Childhood album along with several songs from the band's earlier albums, like "Script For A Jester's Tear" and "Fugazi." All of the live recordings are previously unreleased except for "Chelsea Monday," which was the B-side to "Heart Of Lothian." (The full concert is included with the MISPLACED CHILDHOOD (DELUXE EDITION) LP set.)

The Blu-Ray disc contains an hour-long documentary about the album and promo videos for the album single "Lavender," "Kayleigh," Lady Nina," and "Heart Of Lothian." Also featured is the original album remixed by Steven Wilson in 5.1 Surround Sound and the 2017 remaster in high resolution 96kHz 24bit.. Rounding out the disc are Wilson's Surround Sound and Stereo remixes of "Lady Nina," the B-side to "Kayleigh."

CD, vinyl, and digital breakout versions of the newly remastered original album will follow later in the year.

The Acclaimed Documentary Chasing Trane In Theaters Now

Five Individual Releases Of The Pioneering Saxophonist's Mono Albums For Atlantic
Records Out June 16

LOS ANGELES - John Coltrane will take the spotlight this year when John Scheinfeld's highly anticipated Chasing Trane: The John Coltrane Documentary begins its theatrical run on April 14. Shortly after, Rhino will focus on the revolutionary music the "heavyweight champion" of jazz recorded for Atlantic Records with a series of releases.

It all begins on June 9 with the arrival of a new anthology that includes nine tracks selected from recordings the saxophonist made for Atlantic Records between 1959 and 1961. TRANE: THE ATLANTIC COLLECTION will be available on LP ($19.98), CD ($14.98) and digitally.

The compilation will be followed by mono reissues for five Coltrane studio albums: Giant Steps, Olé Coltrane, Coltrane Plays The Blues, Bags & Trane and The Avant-Garde. Each will be available on 180 gram LP ($21.98), and digitally on June 16, with the mono CD of the classic Giant Steps ($11.98) coming July 7. These albums were recently issued together as part of Rhino's boxed set John Coltrane: The Atlantic Years In Mono. The set received critical acclaim in 2016 including five stars from Downbeat which noted, "With no alternate takes and presented verbatim and presented as the albums were originally issued song-by-song, there is certainly a warmth, clarity and a sense of wholeness that can give new fans a fresh way to listen to Coltrane."

The mono albums and new compilation cover the time when Coltrane - after playing on Miles Davis' Kind Of Blue - was moving away from the life of a sideman and embracing the role of bandleader. The music he recorded at Atlantic features some of his finest work, including the wise blues of "Equinox," a bright, swinging version of "My Shining Hour," the exuberant "Giant Steps," and the hit single "My Favorite Things."

In the liner notes that accompany TRANE: THE ATLANTIC COLLECTION, author and noted jazz critic Ben Ratliff writes: "You can listen through this 46-minute collection of romantic or purposeful or slightly mysterious music...and get it clearly: the sense of a strikingly original sound and intelligence."

Coltrane is poised to reach a new audience this year thanks to Chasing Trane. Written and directed by critically acclaimed documentary filmmaker John Scheinfeld, it is the definitive documentary film about an outside-the-box thinker with extraordinary talent whose boundary-shattering music continues to impact and influence people around the world. Some the film's notable appearances include Bill Clinton, Sonny Rollins, and Common, with Coltrane's own words spoken by Denzel Washington. Following its theatrical launch in New York, the film will be shown in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago, with additional cities planned.
