Expanded Version Of Singer’s Platinum-Certified Debut Celebrates 15 Years With Arrival On Digital Platforms Today
LOS ANGELES –Today, Christina Perri releases a newly mixed single “jar of hearts (epic version)” produced by Rob Cavallo. The song is available through digital service providers today as the singer-songwriter’s platinum-certified debut lovestrong celebrates its 15th anniversary.
lovestrong. debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 in June 2011, capping a whirlwind year for Perri.
A year earlier, she was an unsigned artist in Los Angeles—waitressing by day and recording at night—when her song “jar of hearts” was featured on the television show So You Think You Can Dance. Audiences embraced it immediately, turning the song into a massive international hit that reached #17 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S.
Today marks the 16th anniversary of the song’s debut, celebrated alongside a brand-new rock mix by legendary producer Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Goo Goo Dolls, Paramore). It officially hits a new milestone with a 7x platinum RIAA certification, alongside her iconic track “a thousand years,” which simultaneously reaches an unprecedented 13x platinum status as a certified Diamond hit.
“In honor of lovestrong.’s 15th anniversary, i dug up this (epic version) of jar of hearts from the vault, a song i’ve always wanted to release, but never quite found the right time. produced by the legendary rob cavallo, featuring elmo lovano on drums, I’m proud for the world to hear this one!” – Christina Perri
The album launches alongside lovestrong. 15, an acoustic YouTube series revisiting the record in full for the first time since its initial release. Half of the project is available to stream now—including “arms,” which has already accrued over 700,000 views—with the remaining episodes set to roll out weekly through July.
Perri signed with Atlantic Records and, in November 2010, released The Ocean Way Sessions, an EP featuring five songs performed live in the studio. For her full-length debut, she recorded 11 songs with veteran producer Joe Chiccarelli (The White Stripes, Tori Amos) over an intensive 33-day period where she frequently shuttled between two studios at Sunset Sound.
“arms” was released in March 2011 ahead of the album and became her second platinum-certified single. lovestrong. arrived in June and Perri spent the next year on the road with her 71-show Lovestrong world tour and dates opening for Mraz. In October, she had her biggest hit to date with “a thousand years,” which appeared on the soundtrack of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. A Top 40 smash, the song went on to be certified diamond in the U.S. In June 2012, a year after lovestrong. came out, Perri released the duet version of “Distance” with Mraz, which became a Top 20 Adult Pop hit.
